Here is the deal my verizon contract is up june26th, So I will be joining the rest of my family on there T-mobile Family plan. I will be studying abroad in london starting in september, I plan to unlock my phone, will T-mobile give me the unlocking code? I know there policy says that you must be a subsciber for 30 days, My family has been subscribers of T-mobile for years. Also does anyone reccommed a good phone to be used in europe? also can you recommend a good pay as you go service in london? and also is there a UK phone service that works better with US t-mobile phone? Thank You much

A lot of times T-Mobile will supply the unlocking code if you explain that you will be traveling overseas and will need to purchase a temporary sim card while over there. I'm not too sure though since you will be a fairly new subscriber, but they should do it for one of your family members who have been with T-Mobile for quite sometime. There are other means of unlocking a phone depending on the type of phone. Some local retailers have the unlocking equipment who can do it for a small fee, or there are certain ways of doing it online.

Isn't T-Mobile originally a German company? That's what I was told. What I know for a fact though, is they are well-established in many parts of Europe, including the UK, and you might be able to use T-Mobile prepaid SIMs purchased over there. I would assume (but I don't know for sure) that T-Mobile SIMs from the UK would work in a US T-Mobile phone (of course I would ask someone before I assumed too far). Otherwise, I've heard O2 is a big provider in the UK with prepaid available.

    T-Mobile UK ... O2
