my name is brad and i wanted to get the sidekick 3 i really like it and i have cingular and my phone runs on a sim chip. Does annyone know if the sidekick 3 OUR 2 runs on a sim chip. Because i really want that phone but i don't have t mobile i have Cingular and i whanted to know thank you

Yes you can use the Sidekick with Cingular's network, it's a GSM phone and has the 850 & 1900 mHz band, just make sure it's unlocked...good luck.

like no you don't......
what you need to do is buy the phone unlocked and use it on Cingular's network, T-Mobile will not give you a subsidized price since you will not be using it on T-Mo's network/plan.

No, the phone will not be unlocked. And if you are not planning on using it on the T-moble net, and you are not going to pay the monthly charges, it will be fraud.
What you do is go to E-bay and find one that is unlocked and buy it through them. You will probably choke at the price, but you will also see why the carriers require you to carry a contract for so long with the big discount on the price of the phone.

Fraud, how did you come to that conclusion? as long as one pays for the retail price of the phone and are paying for a calling plan or as prepaid you can use it with any GSM carrier you choose.

You will have to buy the phone at full retail price if you buy the phone without a contract, but you can choose to use it with any compatable GSM carrier you choose to...you will have to get the phone unlocked..

yea the sidekick even if it is unlocked will still only make voice calls using a cingular sim. you will not be able to do any text, pix messaging, email or internet at all since you are not using t-mobile. no it's definately not worth it for you. Switch to T-mobile and get the sk3 its sweeeeeeeeeeeeet

Right, the data features wont work with a Cingular SIM in a SK. That is because the data is sent through the Danger servers for Tmobile SK service.
