Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem. I seem to get a 2-3 private calls a day and when i pick up whoever it is hangs up.
Is this just spam or a tech error or something worse.

Step 5: Scroll down to "Ringer ID" and set that field to "silent."
Step 6: Save your new address book listing.
Viola, problem solved.
What this does is establish a phone record that creates a "p for pause" identifier. Your Motorola phone will assign this "p" address book listing to any blocked number or private number so that it doesn't ring and just goes to voicemail. It's heaven. Anyone calling you after this using a private or blocked number will always just go to voicemail. Never again will you get a silent caller when you answer your phone. I've been using this for 3 years. I absolutely love it.

Desperately in need of help with prank calls
I am being seriously harrassed by someone on both my cell and home phone. I have received threats, hang ups, and down right nasty voice mails. It really has taking a toll on me physically and mentally. I did find out through a friend at the phone company that the phone number is for a pager plus prepaid phone but no name is listed for the phone.
I did contact my local police department. The officer I spoke with made me feel kind of stupid concerning my problem. He informed me that a prepaid phone can not be traced, nor are there any records to subpena due to the fact that there are not contracts with these phones. He basically told me not to answer my phone.
I myself have a prepaid phone and gave my name upon activating my phone. My question (s) are:
Is the police officer I spoke with misleading me or is his information correct.
Is there anything that I can do about this situation. I've change my number and still receive calls from the same number.
I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me.

Re: Private calls
Bearclaw22...Then try through your home phone, you said that you are getting harrassing calls from your home phone, then there will be a record, if you have an answering machine you can provide the authorities with proof of the harrassing calls
Good Luck

Re: Private calls
Next time they call say that the police have been contacted and are listening to the number.
Do you have a number for the people calling you? If you do...let me know and I'll have some fun with them.
Google your phone numbers...make sure someone didn't post them on the internet.
Also...you might just want to change your cell phone number...
Do you ever answer the phone angry yelling? Because that is probably what they want. I'm sure it will get old if you just ignore it eventually

Re: Private calls
Bear Claw - I realize it's been a long time since you posted. I have an identical situation with harrassment, an actual in progress police case and lack of traction. Were you able to get any help or figure out how to block the calls? I have calls to home, work and cell phone. T-Mobile has indicated that I am unable to block unknown calls on my G1 cel phone (or even automatically send them to voice mail) and I'm also unable to block them from my T-Mobile home phone service (I could with my other carriers for my home phone - just not T-Mobile - I guess that's why it's only $10 a month!).
Any information or help you (or anyone else) can provide would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.
