Over the past several months, I have loved my Sony Ericsson K750i. The phone is absolutely wonderful and has all the multimedia functionality I would need.

However, I have recently found myself increasingly interested in picking up a smart phone/blackberry for work purposes. I would love to have my email on me at all time, access to internet in a truly useful format, and the functionality of a great phone.

That said, the K750i has kept me loyal as I have opera mini on it (with t-zones) and, as a result, can get free, unlimited internet for the cost of t-zones (5 dollars a month).

So, the question becomes, if I were to buy the T-Mobile dash and kept my t-zones account, could i put opera mini (or a similar browser) on the phone and pirate internet connections the same way I got it on my k750i?

Does anyone in here NOT suggest buying the dash? The only downgrade i see is the 1.3MP camera (k750i has 2mp).

    What would you suggest fellas?

Re: T-Mobile Dash Question... please help out a noob

I've been using the Dash since 0ct '06 and it's been one of the best phones for me.

I would strongly recommend getting one.

as for the 5.99 tzones thing, you can actually configure your dash to use the 5.99 tzones, but there are limitations.

it's also possible to use your dash with the $20 blackberry feature. (you just don't have any "my email" access...which you dont really need anyway)

feel free to PM me for more info.

I was wondering does the wifi on the dash allow you to connect to all wifi connections? Like can I go to my school and hope on their network then go to starbucks and go on the wifi there? or is it just tmobile wifi service plan?

also I am trying to get a new phone. I am buying retail because upgrading doesnt offer my any discounts.

Is the dash worth it? or should I get the pearl or wait for the 8300 to come for retail?

the TMobile Dash is a HUGE piece of JUNK!!!! The speaker that goes up to your ear is blown on mine, and it has not been abused at all, very well taken care of. The keyboard gets stuck, the functions get stuck, the battery runs out within eight hours even if I have three bars left in my battery icon. My only options is to buy another at retail price or let the manufacturer or TMobile replace it with the exact same phone and a refurbished one at that!!! You can't even pay extra to get out of that phone, and all of these problems started six months after my purchase. I would reccomend buying the blackberry, you'll be much better off and not regretting it like I did.!!!!

I have the Dash and no complaints at all. As far as wifi goes, you can use it with your own home network and any free hotspot (libraries, Panera Bread, etc...). Certain hotspots like T-mobile (Starbucks-next 5yr anyway...FedEx/Kinkos and Borders) and AT&T (Starbucks, Barnes&Noble) charge. One loophole with Starbucks is that if you have a Starbucks card, you receive 2hrs or hotspots usage a day free It's a promo under AT&T that rolled out this spring. Also, if you have AT&T dsl, you can access any AT&T hotspot for free.

One other alternative is Boingo. They offer a plan for $7/mo for handheld devices for their hotspot locales.
