After receiving my statement in March and becoming aware of my daughters text usage and additional charges, I added text messaging to her phone. I called custom service to add unlimited text service to her phone. After making this change to our plan, I informed my daughter that she was free to text without limit.

I received my May statement today and was in shock to see the charges associated with text usage. Between sending/receiving my daughter had accumulated approximately 4,000 texts which inflated our monthly bill from approximately $100 to $700. Apparently they had added a limited text plan to my account.

I called customer service last night and was informed that there was nothing that could be done to reverse these charges. Any suggestions on how to deal with customer service or legal action.

That's strange...when you ask for a change in plans, you should have received a (free) txt message to the phone stating that a change went into effect. I would call again and ask to speak to someone higher up than the rep and state your case again. Do you remember the exact date you had the txt plan upgraded?

The charges coming on this month's bill couldn't have been carried over from the March bill...just call again and if that doesn't work, write.

Why would you consider legal action -- you gave the phone to your daughter and she texted over 4,000 minutes -- I can never understand why people won't take responsbility for their kids actions -- if you're going to let precious continue to use the phone, add unlimited text message and pay the bill

I think you should call them back again and talk to the manager. Also do you remember which customer representative you were talking too, what day it was, and if they gave you a certain number that tracked that conversation down?

you need to complain about it, because they did the same thing to me, they added 400 txt to my parent's phone and not mine, but good thing i checked everything online after everything was finalized, i needed to go back and call them to redo everything.

    be assertive!!
    good luck!

I think she said that she changed her plan to unlimited texting - so there should not be a text bill

She did say that she changed her plan. This should have never happened and its the Customer Service Rep's fault. The only way you might be able to fix this is if you know exactly who you talked to and when and if you call up to talk to a manager.
