You will need to buy the phone at full retail price, or else buy one through eBay or Craigslist or if you can find a friend or family member to sell you one.
Then you would either need to call customer service, or buy one through the TMobile site or go to the store and get a SIM card.
Then you can buy prepaid cards, or else there is Flexpay which either you can get the phone for a discount price but you'd be locked in contract for 2 years or else pay full retail and only do month to month.
    Hope that helps

i don't think the sidekick prepaid woujld be worth it because you pay $1 each day you use the internet (i think) and that comes out to $30/month just for data! and then you add the your minutes & so what.

if you're using the sidekick for texting mostly, you can do the monthly plan and pay $30 for the internet plan w/o wasting money on minutes & what not.

but t-mobile use to have sidekick prepaid packages, but i'm not sure if they still sell em like that - but you would have to buy the sidekick and then buy the sim card - or you can always buy any prepaid card & get it activated and jus buy the sidekick and swap sim cards w/o goin thru the hassle of calling tmob cust. care to get a sim card & get it activated & what not.

    hopefully this helps you out.

My friend has the unlimited plan with a sidekick skide lx. How its done apparently is, lets say you put 30 dollars on your pre paid account, its 1 dollar a day for the data plan and if you have phone calls then its so much per minute or call i cant remember what it is. Once you use all the money you put on your accout then you just put more on it. So it depends on what your will use your phone for. If only the data plan and very little calling go the pre paid way if you call a lot and want to do the internet and whatnot i suggest getting a calling plan with a data plan added on.

Related question: I have T-Mobile Pay As You Go, which works fine. However, about twice a year I have a need for lots of web access for a week or so -- followed by a return to no need at all. I see that I can switch Pay As You Go to Sidekick with web for $1/day, but are there restrictions or charges on switching back and forth? Or another obvious solution? (Don't want to spend that $1/day for web for months on end when I don't need it at all.)
