I've had a prepaid T-Mobile phone for about 3-4 years and the battery is dying so I bought a new prepaid style T-Mobile phone intending to just move the my old sim card over to the new phone so I'd keep my credits, phone #, etc.

On the new phone package I just got, T-mobile now has a promotion thru Jan 12 that gives a "free $25 refill" but it does say new activation is required. I guess to take advantage of the $25 worth of minutes I first need to activate the new sim card with a new phone number, use up the 'free' minutes then swap in my old SIM card to the new phone once that is used up.

Do I seem to have it right? Any other way to approach this where I could apply the $25 to my old number?
