Prepaid Sim

I am wondering if anyone else has done this. I am currently using the T-Mobile prepaid plan and purchase a 1000 minutes at a time. Currently I have a Motorola flip from and would like to have PDA functions in the phone. So I am considering buying a Smartphone and using my sim card in it. I would get a smartphone with Wifi so that would be the way to get to the internet or email if needed.

So has anyone done this and is there any gotchas that I am not aware of?
