    Hello all,
First off, I have been a t-mobile customer for about 8 years now. It has always been great to be a customer for that long, because after a couple years, they're a little more helpful (you might be able to upgrade a month or two early, they'll waive certain fees, etc.).
But recently, an in-store representative convinced me that it would be better to switch to the "Even More Plus" Family plan. I mean, just the name sounds so delightful!, but what really caught me was no more contract! Now, this came with the upset of no more upgrades, but they do offer you the option of "amortizing" any new phone purchase over 24 months (that's kinda cool), so you only have to pay $20 extra per month.
I started noticing, however, that my phone bill was steadily climbing about $10 a month. This cannot be, I have unlimited everything! So I went back into the store to talk with them. All of a sudden, the plan was not the same one that I had signed up for (the prices were definitely not the same), yet the Rep swore the plan had not changed since it came out.
So after much deliberations, I decided to switch to the Even More Plus 750minute Family plan. And instead of dropping almost $100, it went down all of $30. My current bill (although it is supposed to be only $90) is still $160!

Is anyone else experiencing anything akin to this?

Also, I'm now thinking of switching to a pre-paid plan (as I know that my Fiancée and I do not use more than 500 min, and maybe 750 texts per month). Does anyone know if there is a pre-paid service that offer unlimited texting (like Boost mobile claims)?
Also, if I switch to a pre-paid, I can most definitely port my number, right?

I know I can't keep my G1 (it literally NEEDS to connect to the internet), but I do not want to lose my number, I've had it for almost 10 years, and everyone I know has that number.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Is anyone else getting "used" by t-mobile.

I used to be a T-mobile rep and I can tell you that its better to keep a contract than use the even more plus plan. There is no real savings. The plan prices are lower but you pay for the phone which makes up for the savings. Having a contract is good for your credit.

Don't get me wrong, I like T-mobile but it sounds like your sails rep is an idiot or he might have scammed you into something that didn't exist which is not T-mobiles fault because he could be the only one benefiting from what ever he put you through. If he put you in a plan that was no longer available then T-mobile will correct it without even sending you a notice. People on the even more plus plan also pay an extra $4.99 service fee unless you set up automatic payments on your credit card. They also adjust your bill for reasons I dont know why. With me the adjustments where only $3.00 more than what I was quoted and they did it by adding $1.00 each month on an even more plan. Im not sure why yours is so high.

Message here is that if you can get a contract then get a contract. the even more plus plans are for people who cant get a contract and helps build theri reputation with T-mobile, the savings are way smaller than you think if you include the price of the phone plus two years of payments. If you hate contracts then get prepaid but not the even more plus plan.

Re: Is anyone else getting "used" by t-mobile.

Cray, first off, thank you for getting back to me.
Secondly, as I've said, I've been with t-mobile for a long time, and while I may have had the bad habit of paying every two months, they've always gotten what I've owed them. So why they would want to switch me over to the Even More Plus plan, maybe that was because I wanted a new phone and the two years wasn't quite up yet?

But now my new bill just came out and, let me say, I was mistaken. I had forgotten that I get billed for not this month, but the one before. And for this month (the first month of being on 750), it's $298. JUST FOR THIS MONTH. Granted, we did go over (of course, the first month we switched) but usage charges are only totaling $70, meaning, it didn't go down $30, but instead, went up $30.

The only way I see that being true is if the minutes between my fiancée and I are being counted, which they're not, because we're on the same family plan, let alone the "Unlimited T-mobile to T-mobile", and I can see those minutes not being counted.

This is what I mean when I say, something is WRONG.
Now the only thing I can think of is if somehow, maybe my fiancée signed up for something on the internet that gave some company in Fiji permission to charge our bill (she's not the greatest with that catching things like that), but I don't see anything like that explicitly stated.

Any other feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    T-Mobile sucks!

Their service coverage is horrible. I lose signal in my own house, at the Air Force base where I worked, and in downtown of cities. Amazing how Verizon and AT&T works in all those areas… T-Mobile had great coverage for the 3 years I used them in Europe and Eastern Europe, but it sucks here in the USA.

Their customer service sucks. Their representatives are rude. They'll talk over you and never answer your questions. They’ll make excuses of cell tower maintenance for poor service coverage. All the time? Really?!

They do NOT obey federal law.
I asked for a discount when I started my service 2 years ago. I showed the store rep my military ID card, and specifically asked if they had a discount. They said “No”. Then I find out 2 years later that they WERE supposed to give me a 15% (or more) discount under the "Federal Telecommunication Act of 1996 - Discount to Federal Employees Past and Present". So, in 2 years, T-Mobile robbed me of $936!!!
I field a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and a T-Mobile rep then calls me to discuss it. (They refused to do so when I called them…) They had the gall to say that I was supposed to ask the Air Force for the discount. Unbelievable! I said that my cell phone contract was with T-Mobile, NOT the Air Force. He said that it was my responsibility to ask for the discount. I said I did! Was he not listening?!
I asked for his supervisor, but he refused to transfer me to anyone else. So I told him that if he wasn’t going to send a check or transfer me to his supervisor, that he was just wasting my time. He said again that he would not, so I hung up.

So, if you have T-Mobile, and if you have any problems, don’t be silent! Complain! Use these forums, the Better Business Bureau, and the Federal Trade Commission. We can’t let T-Mobile get away with robbing us!

If you are considering T-Mobile – DON’T!!! Stay the heck away from them!
