A year ago my Cliq was stolen. I was told by T-Mobile customer service that no one would be able to use it even with a new sim card.
I go on the my T-Mobile site and review my contact list. There are over 400 contacts listed with local phone numbers that I have never put on my phone (the one Assurian insurance replaced for 79.00).
I call T-Mobile. They tell me that my old phone has been activated with a new sim card and the contacts are going to my contact list though they do not show up on my new Titanium cliq.
Lesson: Do not be concerned about buying a stolen phone. The carriers do not care and do not check.
I did not know that. Now I do.
Extremely disappointed with the lying customer service department of T-Mobile. However I believe this is endemic. Talking with a craigslist buyer he tells me that in the hundreds of phones he has bought only one was blocked.
