If I by a phone from another carrier I.e Verizon, will it work for prepay status on T-Mobile?

Your Verizon contract must be fulfilled and with no outstanding balance, only then... maybe

If you want to use a phone on T-Mobile, it must be another GSM phone, with the correct frequencies. AT&T and T-Mobile are the only two GSM carriers in the United States. You also might be able to use an unlocked phone if it has the correct frequencies.
