    Hi,

I'm from Germany and because of some cheap flights I will be staying in NYC for 6 days in february.
As our hotel will charge for wifi per day, per device, I thought it would be nice to take a wireless hotspot with us and put an American prepaid card in, for using it in the evenings at the hotel for planning our trip.

So far I found out, that a 7-day Ready Sim might be the best pick for us regarding cost-benefit ratio.
But we'll need a wireless hotspot compatible with T-Mobile, right?
They seem to use different frequencies than the other providers?

So could you recommend a mobile hotspot with a nice cost-benefit ratio? Maybe I could get a used one off ebay.com.
Right now I'm a bit confused with all the different networks and devices.
I just need a hotspot with nice 3G/4G coverage in NYC.

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

Ummm, and sorry for my bad English...

Anything that runs on a GSM network should work fine as long as it's not locked to a specific network. To be safe I would try to find one designed for t-mobile.

Well, I already have a Huawei R201, which works perfectly in Germany, as I will get good HSUPA speeds, but using that device in the US would only give me EDGE.

So could you recommend hotspots compatible with T-Mobile USA?
What about the ZTE MF61, would that work and get reasonable speeds?

The MF61 should work, yes. You won't get pure 4g lte though, but it sounds like HSPA+ 4g is fine for your needs.
