Does anyone else get really unstable service where they live? Where ever I go, unless it's in New York City, the reception bars never stop jumping. Sometimes I'll have 4 bars one second and the next I'll have none! I used to have a Nextel and the reception never jumped around like this.

The strangest things happen with my T-Mobile... exactly what you described to me, and then some! Sometimes, at night, my service drops. It's like... between the hours of 1 and 3 AM or something. How random is that? I asked them and they said I need to clean my antenna on the inside or something, and so I did. But it kept happening! Perhaps the towers are just very fickle?

Interesting. I've had the same issues with "bar jumping" and always figured it was an issue with my phone.
Does T-mobile provide maps that show their tower locations?

I heard that T-mobile was updating there network. I read on their site that they were going to send a upgrade to my sidekick that is going to speed up my internet and give me better phone service.

I have been with Cingular, AT&T, and now T-Mobile. I can honestly say that I have been happiest with T-Mobile. I think the service as well as the customer service are better then the others. My reception bar jumps up and down, but I think it has more to do with my phone then the service.

I used to have AT&T. I don't know if it was just the area I live in or what, but I had horrible service. With T-Mobile, my bars usually jump around when they are between 2 and 4 bars, but when I make calls it is still clear. I am definately happy with my service!

Since I had my sidekick, my bars haven't passed the second one yet...And I get really bad reception from most people calling me, extremely annoying...

Shaky Service
Regarding T-Mobile service........
Only two dead spots in my T-mobile service: Where I live and where I work. Unfortunately, I spend 80% of my life in these two locations. Service seems to be getting worse. My guess is that telecoms have taken such a financial beating over the past few years and they're probably not keeping up their infrastructure.
I'm out here trying to get some idea of which service might be better in the Denver area.
