Anyone who sells or has Sprint, did you compare to other carriers? What made you choose Spint? Do you like it or think you made a mistake. Trying to decide if i want Sprint or another carrier

    Short answer.... "It depends...."
    Longer answer.....

IMHO, it depends on many factors...

What do you want the phone for?
    Voice?
    Data?
    Picture?
    High-speed data?

    Then 'it depends... ' on

    A) Location
    B) Handset

Easy one first: Some handsets are better than others. Some are better in
weak signal area (Ie SANYO, others may dispute that(notice I began IMHO!)
Some have better pieces, some are easier to read. Some have different
    features.....

Now the harder one... It depends on location.. actually locations. Where are
going to use the phone. Some systems are better than others in different
    cities.

I have 4 Sprint 5300's on my account and 1 8100 . All Sanyos. All have been
GREAT. I have plan ("Free and Clear America") that allow me to 'roam' on
certain other network when I can't get Sprint. For the most part, This has
given me almost universal Service across the US .

The 5300's have been GREAT .. except no longer available... Actually one is
falling apart, but that is in no way a reflection on the phone. It has been
dropped on concrete multiple times... Slid across the pavements etc etc
..Finally after 2 years, the back hinge is saying 'enough is enough' and
    crumbling away..

Sprint PCS is my third carrier in about twelve years, had them for almost 4
years now, and IMHO, so far the best as far as phones and coverage.
Unfortunately, I have found their customer service to be abysmal.
Fortunately, I have only needed it twice in four years.

Also, depends upon the phone. I had a Samsung before, which I thought did
pretty good for 3+ years, and now have a Sanyo with which I am getting much
better signal reach. On the other hand, I am a no-frills customer, don't
have or want camera-phone, and don't use web or text-messaging, so maybe
    depends upon what you want.

I have been with sprint for six years. For the most part very happy. I live
in Cincinnati,Oh and travel through OH, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Ky., W.
Virginia. Very good coverage and in fact I get full pcs signal in areas the
even my co-workers with verizon don't get.. First look at the maps for your
area and try out the carriers for their trial period and see for your self..
Remember that you will drop calls with every wireless carrier and none are
perfect.. If I wasn't with sprint I'd probably go with Verizon.. This month
on Consumer Reports.com they compared carriers signal in 18 major cities and
verizon was number one with the others real close.. Cingular came in dead
    last in every category...

    Re: Info

I live in Southern California and had Verizon for the past 10 years and have
been very satisfied with them. Several years ago, I moved to another city
four miles away and could not get a usable signal with Verizon because of
the hilly terrain. I switched to Sprint because they have a cell site that
is located on the side of a building down the street. I have found that in
California Sprint is as good as Verizon. I travel throughout the country and
have had very good experiences with Sprint. It is important to note that if
you do not have Sprint coverage you can roam on Verizon in digital mode. The
reverse is not true. Verizon cannot roam on Sprint's network. With Sprint, I
have the best of both worlds.

    Re: Info

I've compared Sprint and Verizon and for me, the deciding factor was
the best signal in my neighborhood and traveling spots. I've been with
Sprint for three years and am very happy.
