im stuck between buying the Audio Vox 8920T or the Motorola V710.

I've heard mixed reviews about the Motorola V710 like if the phone is in your pocket and if the side button is pressed it changes to ring or virate, that true?
is it also true you cant use your own mp3's for ringtones?

the Audio Vox has less features, only big difference is no Mp3 player, but its about $100 cheaper.
    last thing are the sizes:

    Audio Vox 8920T: 89x48x23 (mm) Motrola V710: 94x49x23 (mm)

The V710 was a bit big in my hand, while the 8920T was a lot smaller. if anyone has suggestions on which one is better in the long run and worth the money, please reply!!

ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON!!! If you get the audiovox, the telus rep will laugh at you as soon as you leave It was a terrible phone full of bugs and many people have returned it several times to fix problems with it. The V710 really doesn't do all that much the way you get it from telus but if you get somebody to hack it for you, you'll be able to use mp3's as a ringers and use Mobile Phone tools to easily trasnfer mp3's, wallpapers and screensavers to the phone... plus the hack will give you full bluetooth functionability. Do a search on v710 SEEM edit and you'll see what it can open up.

BTW if you are buying either of those phones because of the camera, I would suggest you look at a different model. Both cameras are terrible on those, the v710 is a little better but only way to take a decent pic is to have plenty of lighting and preferably outdoors. LG535 comes with a very decent camera but you may not like the slider design!

Thank you ProBoner!!! i didnt think anyone was going to answer my questions, well it seems you're right about the LG 535 being better than the Audio Vox and the Motorola. The sliding feature isnt something im too keen on, but i guess it takes getting used to, just like when i got a flip phone .

Actually the sliding feature is kinda cool, its just the size is big compared to my current acient (Audio Vox 8900)phone. Looks like Lg 535 is my #1 choice phone to buy so far, can the mp3's downloaded be used as ringtones? is that the best phone for $300 or less?

    Thanks again for your post.

No problem! If you wait a couple more weeks all of Telus' new phones will be available to choose from... but if the main thing you are after is camera/ringers then you definately want the LG! Just make sure you can feel comfortable with it in your hand and pocket or wherever it is you'll carry it in. The beauty about the ringers on the LG is that you can transfer almost any quality mp3 ringer onto that phone and you can assign it as a ringer... the v710 I believe only accepts 44khz mono ringers or something like that.

The v710 does have better reception however, but unless you frequent bad areas, then the LG is pretty good anyways.

Just as a quick warning, the LG8100 might be coming to telus in the first quarter of 2006... unless you really just like the slider look, then you're better off waiting for that phone!

I recently bought and lost my V710 and really liked it. Camera quality in the dark is terrible and only decent at best. Even though it has the led light it was really grainy. Overall size is a bit too big but the front screen and inside screen are large also and very easy to read. I would get another one. I can't comment on the other one but if you can really test out the options that you think that you will use more.

I like the slider style of the LG 535 but that phone looks pretty sweet. I have to switch from MTS to Telus on Feb 21st so i don't think that phone will be out by then will it? even if it was do you think it would come out with a good price? comparable to the price of the V710 or LG 535?

I really don't know anything concrete. I've been passing on rumours, the first one ended up being true (the release of the samsung a840 in the first quarter) but now we're expecting either the 8100 lg or a high-end samsung (a940 or a970 possibly) to surface in the first or second quarter.

Just keep your fingers crossed I guess.

I just purchased the v710 this week. I was eyeing the LG535 also. The LG feels much larger in size than the Moto.

Most of the reviews you read about the Moto is acurate. Poor camera, limited capabilities due to Telus, volume tends to be low on the speaker. These being some of the larger issues. However, after asking around, this phone is still one of the best choices for phones from Telus.

I've also heard good things from the Samsung A670 which is now discontinued, but my only problem with it was that its a dual mode(Dig). No analogue. If thats not an issue, then I think its a great phone..and free right now if you sign or re-sign for a 3yr term.

I'm considering getting my phone hacked. Whats the point of having a high-end phone with tons of options, but not being able to use them.

    good luck

The v710 can have the earpiece volume modified as well if you're going to get it hacked... the a670 has a crappy display in comparison to the v710 and also the reception isn't quite as strong... sadly though, the a670 has a better camera despite only being .3mp

The v710 far outweighs the audiovox
