So i just phoned Telus my cell phone provider and they said they have some GSM phones witch take sim cards. But wen i asked her if i took a rogers/fido phone unlocked and put my sim card in wud it work? she said no. Is this true or does she just not want me to be switchin phones like that?

TELUS is a CDMA Provider not a GMS Provider.
CDMA phones DO NOT use a SIM card.
