Personal ringtones?

i have one of the most basic telus cells out there. it's the CF-40 (i believe)
if there's any possible way to get custom ringtones on there, that you DON'T download from the main telus site, as it has nothing. Or if there's any phone out there that you can put your own ringtones on?

Please reply if you know anything, as the Telus service helps with nothing like this.

well, i heard that there is a way, but...........iono, it seems........kinda risky??
cuz itz....well...it requires you to hack into your phone using bitpim
and...lol, yeaah, i'm scared to try that out..cuz what if telus finds out and if u wanna change your phone,they wouldn't want to exchange your phone cuz they found out that you hack'd into your own phone >.<

From what I know telus is very restrictive when it comes to downloading from 3rd party sites. Ive tried everything on my girlfriends phone but havent had luck yet.
