I have a BB curve and 3 year family plan from Telus. We are having 3 phones 2 with unlimited data ,unlimited internet ,free incoming call etc. My instrument was not working o.k. It was loosing signals, and lot of dropped calls. I transferred my account to a new HTC touch Diamond phone,to try if the problem is solved. To my surprise I got the shock of my life when I was informed that Telus has taken away my unlimited internet usage facility .
Despite heated arguments I was told it is impossible to get the unlimited internet usage facility back again.I was aghast nobody warned me before, and how can they change my plan if I change my instrument.
I ask my fellow users if they have any similar experience and what recourse I have to get my original plan . Whom should I approach.? Should I file a legal case against them? I have completed 1year and still have 2 more years to go. I feel very frustrated every time I touch my mobile phone. I came to know about this when I switched back to my original BB curve.

P.S. There reasoning was that plan does not exist anymore. My argument was I am not asking for a new plan I have just swapped instrument how can they take awy my original plan, and why I was not warned.

Was this the $15 unlimited data plan?

I have read that if you switch from a BB to a regular smartphone, you will lose it. I think the same goes both ways.

    Re: Beware Of Telus.......

    thats weird
wen i first got the fone i had unlimited internet for some reason
so i took advantage of it
for about 3 months i didnt have to pay for any of my internet use
but then all of a sudden i got charged ALOT
and i called in and they sed it was the internet use
which was always free for me
the only thing they did was tell me that what i had bfore was like a "bonus"
so it wasnt fair that they kinda just cut it without tellin me ...

Actually that's pretty common. A lot of carriers do that, or something similar. I just spoke to a Rogers rep when considering signing up for a Blackberry plan, and they said for the first three months the data usage is unlimited, but after that time your normal limits (and thus charge for over-use) are activated. Their sales pitch on that is "it gives you some months to figure out how much data you'll use so you can adjust your plan accordingly". Years ago when I started a Blackberry plan with Telus it was the same thing: three months of unlimited data but then your plan kicks in.

Look instrument is back in india here cellphone

Bell and TELUS had unlimitited for both PDA and Blackeberry devices, and the important thing is that when you change your data from bberry to pda and unlimited plan for that one doesn't exist ohhhh well to bad for you

This is totally normal for Telus.

A few years back I went through an episode where they would cut promotional packages from my plan EVERY MONTH for about 6 or 7 months in a row.

How is that even possible? Basically I'd get $100 dollar charges for text messaging when it was included in my plan. Then every month I'd call them, have the charge removed, they'd argue with me for 40 minutes about how it's not only plan, but then they'd look back and realize it is on my plan and they just accidentally removed it last month for no reason. ...and they seriously did that 7 months in a row.

    Horrendously inadequate.

    Re: Beware Of Telus.......

I have to agree with you all, the service level provided by Telus (and the others) is very poor. I have just moved back from the UK and there the providers do anything they can to get you to sign up......That said any business that can arbitrarily change its contract without notifying the other party in the contract will take advantage of that.

I signed with Telus in December, saw that my data usage was not sufficient and bumped up to one of their data Flex plans. As I check my account online I am finding charges for data usage, I thought that the purpose of the flex plan was base rate fluctuated with data usage until you went over a certain amount (which has been lowered since I signed up). I don['t understand how the consumer here just takes it. I am getting myself prepared to have it out with them, I am not going to be paying over $200.00 per month for a service that I was expecting to pay $70 for.

BTW did anyone else notice that the fave 5 numbers is not free anymore?
