If I take out a new contract on Orange with eg. OSPS, can I port the
phone number from an Orange PAYG account?

Call 450 on your PAYG Orange, and choose change tariff, change to pay
monthly... Have a chat with the cust serv. people

Don't they have to send you a different type of sim?

BTW it's migrating not porting if it's on the same network.

If it's contract > PAYG then yes, not sure about the other way around, but
I would assume so. Takes up to 30 days.

I lost a contract sim but had an unregistered PAYG.
They said they couldn't put contract number on that because a contract
sim is different type. In this case I believe them

Needs to be actioned at point of connection, it transfers quickly and
ORANGE do not allow a 14 day cooling off period for PREPAY to CONTRACT
migrations.

It is technically possible, but some on-line dealers don't allow it due
to the hassle factor. It has to be done at point of connection and you
lose any credit, and there is no 14-day return policy.
