T-Mobile refused to give me my PAC code of a contract that ended with
them today, I've had the number for 4 years and decided to cancel as I
was annoyed with the call increases that are effective soon. 28 days
ago I asked for my pac code and was told if I got it then I would have
to pay my contract up, (£30) I was told to ring the day before my
contract ended and I would be given it free of charge then. I rang
them yesterday and was told I would have to pay 64p (via credit or
debit card) to get it only 64p I know but I refused as I never had to
pay when my partner ported into 3 from o2. My phone was cut off today
and as such I had to ring them on the 0845 number. Now there telling
me that I cannot have my PAC as the contract has ended and that the
number has gone back into the system). The only way I can get my PAC
is by resuming my contract. Is there anything I can do to gt my PAC?
T-Mobile have been really f***ing awkward over this whole thing. ANy
help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: T-Mobile refused to give me my PAC
Sadly, probably not. Operators are able to charge a nominal admin fee
for issuing a PAC code under OFCOM regs, and if the contract ends then
you do indeed lose the number.
You're looking at either another 12 month T-Mobile contract, a new
number or a complaint to the regulator.

Re: T-Mobile refused to give me my PAC
Can't help with your problem, but t-mobile wanted me to pay £25 for my
PAC code - this was despite the fact i had pre-paid the line rental in
full and i requested it about 30 days before so no more line rental
would be due. Another reason to stay clear of them

I would have told them that I no longer wish to have a contract, but as I
like their network, could they convert my account to PAYG. They have done
that for me before. Once it is a PAYG account, then you can port the number,
and I have never heard of a PAYG customer having to pay to get a PAC.

You were told what to do. You didn't do it and now that's what has
happened.

At least Orange didn't try and charge me for the two PAC's I had off them
this week (both contract). Just about the only thing they don't charge for
now.

them today, I've had the number for 4 years and decided to cancel as I

Tmobile tried the same trick with me so I reported them. The contract was
up and they cancelled the price plan I had then put me onto a new one and
tried taking advanced charges even though I cancelled. I insisted on a PAC
code as they refused to confirm the cancellation. Tmobile lied and said I
had agreed to a new contract but couldn't show me any proof as there wasn't
any. After complints to the press office and various others on the site I
was told I couldn't have a PAC code unless I signed up with them for n email
account/password. I refused yet agin and after some insisting I was sent
the PAC code by email.
Tmobile were nothing but con merhants when i tried dealing with them so I am
glad to be with another company now.

How did it end? Did you cancel?

That was downright wrong. They should not have given you this
misinformation. If you could prove they said that, you might have a
claim against them. But I doubt you can prove it.

So your number is not worth 64p to you?
>My phone was cut off today

Hope you weren't on long. 64p won't buy a very long 0845 call.

No, I think you are stuffed.

Perhaps, but you were at fault.
>ANy
>help/advice is greatly appreciated.
Pity you didn't ask for advice a couple of weeks ago, or better still
a month ago.
Sadly, there is nothing you can do now. Once the contract has been
cancelled, you can't port the number.
That's why you should have been told NOT to cancel if you want to
port. You should have waited until the end of the minimum contract
term, asked for a PAC and accepted the cost of an extra week's line
rental. But you didn't. No use crying over spilt milk.
If it is possible to rejoin T-mobile and get your old number back, you
could then port it properly after that contract ends, but I doubt you
would want another contract with them if you wouldn't pay 64p to keep
your number!

Good God, you've got some real issues with Orange there fella! Yeah, they
now charge for 0800 - Get over it!

You could ask T-Mobile to reopen your number on contract - you would not
have to agree to another year's contract to do this. Just tell them you
changed your mind about cancelling.
Once the line has been reopened you phone back up and ask for your pac
code. Do not ask them to cancel your line at this point. When you give
your pac code to your new network and they transfer your number across
your T-Mobile contract will once again cancel, but this time you will have
your mobile number on your new network.

Freephone numbers by definition should be free. One of the things that
made Orange different was that they recognised this. Now they don't, which
is not the way to go about attracting customers, IMHO.

And which other network will not charge you or use inclusive minutes for
0800 numbers?

Irrelevant. Freephone numbers should be free. *ANY* charging to the caller
for them is plain wrong. The fact that other networks have done so before
is not the point. One of the things that made Orange different was their
recognition of this.

Re: T-Mobile refused to give me my PAC
I don't understand this. I have been with T-Mobile for 2 and a half
years, the first 6 or 12 months I was tied to them, but after that I
didn't have to stay with them if I didn't want to. I have stayed with
them and kept the direct debit going.
Surely the only way your contract expires even if you are out of the
12 or 18 month tie in time, would be if you actually cancelled it or
stopped paying the bills?
I can leave T-Mobile any time I want and intent to imminently to
another network, and getting a PAC Code so I can take my number with
me.
I already requested the PAC 2 months ago but I let it expire, as I
wasn't ready to move. The N70 was taking ages to become available.
Was your contract on direct debit and did you cancel it?
