    Hi,

Is it possible to use UK sim cards in Dublin and pick up UK signals?
I know it's possible beside the border but how about over the sea (ie
    in Dublin, Wexford, Waterford etc)?

Not only that, even if the signal was strong enough the timing would be
too long to be accepted. The phone signal must get back to the cell
within a certain time slot. So the allowable distance is not very far
    e.g 25Km

You can use a UK SIM but it'll be roaming on the Eire networks and
    costing you a bomb.

Lets put it this way, if you're not careful in Londonderry, you end up
    on an Eire telco.

Phone will tell you if you're roaming or not. Some phones have a roaming
icon next to the signal icon. Others will display the network name. However,
there is O2-IRL and Vodafone-IRL too.

It's just that a few people over on the TwilightWap forums were saying
that they bought UK Sims with unlimited free GPRS and were using these
in Dublin. Is that possible. Would be handy as I spent 100 euros on
    GPRS the part month alone.

Orange does a £1 per day unlimited GPRS service. Don't know if international
    GPRS roaming is inclusive though.

Yes indeed. It is possible to say all sort of rubbish on web forums.

Free roaming GPRS is also possible, because not all networks have got
their GPRS billing act together, but I'd not depend on it!
