As long as you don't need 3G, then (AFAIK) nothing beats Orange PAYG
with the daily unlimited Orange World (Internet) access bundle at
£1/day.

Look here:
http://www.orange.co.uk/service_plan...tra_costs.html
Be sure to note ' Orange World Access Daily is not available on 3G phones.'
http://www.orange.co.uk/service_plan...rms.html#link3
Also 'When you try Orange World Access for the first time, your first month
is free. '
http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Sat...23564495&tab=2
(Or http://tinyurl.com/4cfg4 if that link wraps).
And some free Orange World Access if you register the SIM card on the 'Free
Text Top-up' payg plan:
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/payasy...rds?WT.svl=403
Orange have got to be the best value for mobile data in the uk at the
moment.

Indeed. Because believe me, I've tried it - the automated service
won't sell you the £1 bundle if you have 3G provisioned.
And to Chris - yes it is full internet access - standard Orange GPRS
settings (should be on filesaveas/gprs - google for it).

Re: Cheapest/best PAYG Data tariff
I have just put together a comparison of call costs on the major networks
pre-pay tariffs.
Quite a simple table of X/Net call costs that includes MVNO's and all the
majors.
It took quite a while digging through all the deals to get the information.
Hardly surprising some find the whole pre-pay pricing structure totally
confusing. Hope the comparison helps a bit.
Comments welcome.

The £1 per day is not available at 3G speeds. It's only available for 2G
SIMs.

One point though....you need to dial 450 to register it - how can you
do this on a laptop pc card?
