Not at all. I've had 5 free texts per day on my original OH pack for
years. Mind you I have never tried to add any other packages to the
phone which might 'damage' the allowance.
My wife has an Orange one year Text Saver which is still giving 5 free
texts per day after two and a half years, some eighteen months after
she received the message from Orange that they were coming to an end
:-)
Oh yes. As of 2040 local, the Orange POP3 server is still giving
errors when my client tries to connect. I have implemented the new
settings which worked fine until about 36 hours ago.

Are you trying to retrieve your POP3 e-mail on your phone or on an
e-mail client on your PC ?
I only ask because about an hour ago I successfully reitrieved e-mails
from the POP3 server on my Nokia 6630. And because of this, I wonder
if those of you having problems are experiencing configuration related
issues as opposed to a problem with the server itself.

I have never got mine to work since having my K750i for the last 7
months. Mind you I'm not sure what the username is supposed to be, as
you use the phone number and password to login to the web site. I
have tried that on the pop settings and also the bit before the @ on
my @orange.net email address. If anyone knows for sure what it should
be I would be very grateful.... I know my password is correct as I can
login to the web site Orange email fine...??

Info from the config in my Nokia 6630.
Mailbox name: Orange.Net UK
Access Point in use: Orange GPRS
My e-mail address: [email protected] (this is the e-mail address you
have setup with Orange)
Outgoing mail server: smtp.orange.net
username: [email protected] (eg [email protected])
password: the password you use on the website (at least it is in my
case)
incoming mail server: pop.orange.net
mailbox type: pop3
security (Ports): off
apop secure login: off
That being said, if you login to your Orange e-mail account on the
website, there is an option to have the settings sent to your phone
directly.

I am using my PC. I have no need to retrieve emails on a mobile phone. I
use that for phoning people.

I can connect/login to my pop3 mail ([email protected]) on pop.orange.net on
my PDA via a GPRS connection on Orange.
I cannot connect/login connect to my pop3 mail ([email protected]) on
pop.orange.net on PC via my home ADSL connection.
Further tinkerings by Orange with their mail service ? (see thread

When it comes to upgrading their email, they are a joke.
Why oh why did I give this out to potential employers as my email
address?!!!
Oh yes, text notification..... does anyone know of a more reliable solution?

Re: Orange POP3 server..?
Didn't you check out the 'service status' on the orange website listing
why they were having the problems and what they are doing about them?
Oh that's probably because they haven't got any such information!

Surely the whole point of Orange offering an e-mail service is for it
to be used with the phone. That you need an Orange phone before you
can register is surely a big clue.

Re: Orange POP3 server..?
Actually no. I originally had an orange eMail address in the days pre
WAP, they used to be an ISP in their own right. In fact for a while
you didn't even need to have an Orange number to have an Orange eMail
account, though that was changed a couple of years ago I think.
