    Really ?
I thought the 6021 was, if not a direct successor, at least pretty
close, what with it having Bluetooth and no camera.

Has a Pop-port though, no good for all the corporate car-kits up and
down the country.. or without a suitable adapter anyway (yack!)

I believe the battery life is significantly less good, though.

I'd actually quite like a 6021 for the larger memory and slightly larger
screen, but the shorter battery life (caused, I suspect, by the
unnecessary use of a colour screen) and the pop-tart connector have
    convinced me not to downgrade.

The other Nokia worth a look is the 9300 PDA/phone, if that's your sort of
    thing.

    Cheers,
    Daniel.

    Doesn't fit the CARK-91.

It's a better *phone* than anthing thats come along since. Easily
pocketable but not too small to hold, fantastic call quality, buttons
spaced so adult fingers can use them and no fiddly 'joystick', Nokia's
intuitive, simple interface (before they messed with it). Good loud
ring, good solid vibrate. A B&W screen that can been seen in sunlight.

How could it be improved? auto keylock as you mention. An updated set
of bluetooth profiles. A PC Suite that actually works (ability to
import a bulk address book from Outlook is all that's needed). And
    that's about it.

I'm on my third, having gone back after trying two newer phones. I've
an SPVM600 arriving anyday but i fully expect to end up using it as a
connected PDA with a PAYG Sim within a few weeks and to have my
contract sim back in the 6310i.

have a look at www.6310i.co.uk - there are even companies who make a
    living reconditioning them.

Close, but no cigar. Battery life is no where near the 6310i, and it won't
utilise any of the 6310i's accessories.

    Well ...

    1. I also find that when viewing numbers in the phonebook the first few
    numbers are eilded thus:

    [icon] ...123456789

which can be annoying (and I'm sure it didn't happn on my 7110). An LCD
with a slightly higher pixel count -- say 128x128 rather than 96x96 -- or a
smaller font would be better (preferably more pixels, my eyes aren't what
    they used to be).

    2. I find the fact that the screen is recessed a few mm behind the window
in the case means that in sunlight a shadow falls across the top of the
screen making the time hard to read. It could be improved by moving the
    screen forward towards the window.

In fact, it would be nice to be able to display the time in larger figures
in the middle of the screen (because I'm always forgetting my watch, and my
eyes aren't what they used to be).

    3. Quad band (inc. 850MHz GSM for those places in the US that use it) would
    be nice.

These are pretty minor niggles about a damn fine piece of kit, though.

    Cheers,
    Daniel.

No doubt they're losing the plot a little but up to and including the
6310i they had an impressive policy of ensuring accessories *were*
compatible. It's only now that they've changed the power cable
whereas other manufacturers have gone through numerous ports.

It used to be a dead cert to find someone with a nokia charger almost
anywhere in the world and they'd all work on any nokia phone.
Supplying a flylead to allow an old charger to the N70 is just
admitting that they've screwed up IMO.

Oh, and they're PC software has always been dreadful

Thanks. I think that they're a little overpriced for refurbished units
though. I'd not want to pay above £100 for a brand new one, but then I
    *am* a skinflint ;-)
