Just got a USB data transfer cable and software for daughters phone. All
software was installed on computer running WindowsXP Pro. There is no
indication of who manufactured the software and there are no help files that
    I can find.
    Problem
We can transfer data from phone to computer but not from computer to phone.
The icon that should initiate transfer to phone does not become active when
a file is selected for transfer. We have also tried dragging and dropping
    with no success.
    Anyone got ideas?

I'll have to dig around as I used to use the same software and hit the
same problem! It does work but the user interface is a bit odd (read
'crap') and you have to do something different to upload to the
Samsung, possibly under a different menu. Hold the faith!!!!

Have you tried using the cable you bought with Samsung's EasyStudio
software which you can download from Samsung's web site? The software
is not great but it does work, so if you still have problems it is
probably the cable at fault. I bought a cheap cable with some bizarre
software (couldbe the same one you got) and never got it to work. I
sent it back and got a proper Samsung one for a few pounds more and it
    works like a dream.

    Hope this helps

Take your cable back and get a bluetooth dongle for the PC.

We had this problem when my wife had a D500. I recall it was something to do
with the folder structures on the phone and the fact that you can't upload
from the PC to them all. One will allow an upload, put everything in there
that you want to upload then manually move to where you really want them.

Many thanks for all the suggestions.
I've downloaded the latest software from Samsung and got things working.
