After years of getting more and more cheesed off by ever increasing
mobile phone bills (despite minimal use) i've now taken matters into my
own hands and have set up a website to list all the 12 month free
deals (via cashback) i can find - these aren't discounted tariffs or "6
months free" tariffs as there are lots of good mobile comparison
websites out there (like reestitmutton.co.uk) that list those deals,
but my site simply lists those that are (after cashback) completely
    rent free.

    Anyway, it's at:

    www.12months4free.co.uk

apologies that it's not a flashy website, but its the first one i've
ever done, and i'm more into getting the deals published than
unnecessary glitz! please let me know any thoughts.

I should mention that there are affiliate links on the site, but it's
not limited to affiliate links - just depends who is doing 12 month
rental free! But, i've just remembered affiliate links annoy a lot of
people so i'll insert an "no affiliate" link to the deals over this
weekend, so then you'll have an option what to click - hopefully being
upfront about that will appease the affiliate-link-haters!

It's a basic but useful site - good to have one site with all the free
    mobile deals on.

My current cashback deal with Orange is about to end. The only tip i
would give to people going down this route is to make sure you read the
small print. If you don't submit the correct documents to the mobile
company within the specified time they'll refuse to give you cashback.
But just put a note in your diary, send it off in time etc and wait for
the cheque to come back to you. In short, if you're organised, these
    "free deals" are great.

As you say it just needs a bit of organising .I had a BT Mobile deal that cost
be £9.99 a month for 12 months after I got the cashback payments .I have just
    taken out an O2 deal .£35 a month for 12 months less 4 x £105 cashbacks equals
    FREE.
It gives me 500 call minutes for 3 months and 200 texts for the 3 months reduced
to half after that .I can live well wihting that so it won't cost me anything
    except insurance .
Keep a diary or set reminders in your phone or on your pc to mak sure you send
your vouchers back but you do have a reasonable period in which to claim .

I entirely disagree most companies are relying on the fact that 99.99%
of people find it exceptionally difficult to lick a stamp on an envelope and
walk to a letter box about 4 times a year.

    hehe

Thanks for the web site Great

    Hi Jane889,

Don't take Andy_Checker's comments to heart. His "my site is better than
your site" jibe is clearly borne out of self-interest. Shame on you,
Andy_Checker - you really should know better! Ironically, according to
his own PR in the local press, he doesn't really need to drum up
    additional traffic for his site:

    http://www.northtynesidetoday.co.uk/...icleID=1326695

Anyway, I wish you well with your site - I remember when my site was the
internet equivalent of tin-cans-and-string. In fact, I'm sure many of
the regulars on here also remember those days. If you really do intend
to get non-affiliate links up for all your deals (make sure that they
are clearly marked for ease of use) then I'm 100% behind you - I wish
more sites would have the balls to provide this level of choice.

One piece of advice - people like to know which retailers they are
dealing with (especially so where cashback is concerned) and don't like
to waste their time clicking through to find out who the retailer is. If
you can find the space on your webpage I would seriously consider adding
    that information upfront.

BTW...make sure you get your .com, .net, .org and .eu domains registered
before Andy's mate Darren Ithell[1] allows his "affiliates" to squat all
over them[2]. I'm speaking from bitter experience here - just have a
look at www.reestitmutton.com...and I am by no means the only victim of
    this highly predatory practice.

And if you think that's bad, an "affiliate" of Darren's also tried it on
with reestit-mutton.com (with a "-") earlier this year. He had the
bare-faced cheek to display a "Bargain Basement" logo on the site, use
paid-for keyword advertising for the domain in google and promote it on
at least one well known online forum (MSE of all places) under the
pretext of it being MY site!!! Thankfully, I managed put a stop to that,
    but only after pulling teeth.

BTW...while I'm on the subject, if any of the regulars on this NG are
willing to help me out as independent witnesses for the UDRP case that
I'm seriously considering putting together for reestitmutton.com then
I'd be very pleased to hear from you - simply email me via my site.
Unfortunately, when the squatting affiliate habitually ignores your
emails and Darren Ithell refuses to ban the affiliate for abuse of his
facilities, there are very few remaining options left available to you.

    all the best,
    RM

    FOOTNOTES:
    ==========
[1] Darren Ithell is the name of the guy behind Mobiles4Everyone and a
close friend of Andy_Checker (see link to news article above). Darren
used to run an illegal matrix scheme until the office of fair trading
closed it down last year, citing him personally in their press release:
    http://www.oft.gov.uk/News/Press+rel...005/118-05.htm

[2] This is not merely an opinion, it is a verifiable fact. The
following quotations from Darren himself on the subject of the
reestit-mutton.com squatting incident should bear this out:

    ===
"I don't believe that I have the right to tell him what to do with his
    domain name."
    ===
"He has the right to register any available domain name and redirect it
anywhere. I have many affiliates who have bought domains and redirect
them to their white label sites. This is normal practice."

My site provides me with some income yes and I freely admit that but
the reason it was set up (as you know after reading my press releases
and posting links to them!) is that I knew I could provide a better and
more useful service on the web than other comparison sites out there do
and have always looked for mobile bargains myself.

Is there another site that allows users to compare all the uk mobile
contracts / tariffs as simply, allows users to add their own handset
reviews and comments and presents all this information in a clear and
accessible format? I designed my site specifically to comply with the
disability discrimination act and web accessibility standards as I have
a keen interest in making the web accessible for all so people with
disabilities can use my site too and spent a great deal of time going
the extra mile i order to acheive the aims above.

I actually used to use your bargain basement a few years ago but got
sick of waiting for your laptop battery to be replaced during the
'redesign'. Interestingly can I ask why you started to concentrate
entirely on mobile phones rather than all the other bargains you used
to provide as for me that's what made your site useful?

Also are you trying to say you do not make any money from your site and
everything you do is out of the goodness of your heart? If this is the
case why have affiliate links on your site at all?

    > BTW...make sure you get your .com, .net, .org and .eu domains registered

Would you care to explain your "squatting"on mobilechecker.eu - who is
    information here:
    http://www2.whois.eu/whois/GetDomain...=mobilechecker
which you registered on 11 April 2006 Mr Laurence Molloy? Have a look
at www.mobilechecker.eu if you need reminding of your actions. I have
never tried to pass myself off as anything other than Andy and the
owner of Mobile Checker so I think it is pretty low buying a domain and
using mobilechecker.eu to redirect to your site when you allegedly do
not do anything for profit. Also why buy this and then whinge on this
newsgroup about others (not me!) when you are doing this yourself? I am
sure if I approached you to purchase this domain you would not sell
this for cost price which again confuses me why you have purchased
    mobilechecker.eu...

Also to bring other people into this argument YOU have started with me
and mobile checker seems a little strange as I know for a fact that I
am also not the only "victim" as you put it, of your recent .eu domain
grab but I am not interested in them or anyone else you know as I am
not out to try and darken individuals or sites reputations on
newsgroups Laurence. To quote your amusing line at the top of your rant
"Shame on you, Laurence - you really should know better!"

    > BTW...while I'm on the subject, if any of the regulars on this NG are
    > willing to help me out as independent witnesses for the UDRP case that

Interesting you are getting heavy handed with other people about such
matters so I will ask you again in this thread politely for everyone to
read - Why have your recently purchased mobilechecker.eu and will you
simply transfer this to myself? I have never said ANYTHING about
bargain basement in ANY forum until this post so your attacks against
my site and name are totally without justification.

I will not comment further regarding your posts about other individuals
as I am not interested and have never been in attacking other sites and
people - before you even TRY to say anything about my comments to the
starter of this thread I started my post with "No offence meant" and I
meant it. I already compare an extensive amount of 12 months free deals
in 1 place and he would do well to look there to get an idea of the
range of offers available in the UK market.

This post is a fraud. It was planted by Andy to try and underline his
case against me and undermine my reputation while, at the same time, YET
AGAIN talking up his own website. I've come to expect this kind of
    behaviour from Mobiles4Everyone affiliates.

Re: List of 12 month-free mobile deals...

Reestit Mutton, you have included me in this discussion unnecessarily.
I would prefer not to become involved but feel the need to defend
myself against what could be seen as detrimental remarks.

Your choice of words quoted from the numerous emails we've exchanged
would suggest that I'm in favour of domain squatting. This is not the
    case.

You fail to mention the fact that I quickly resolved your previous
complaint with reestit-mutton.com by preventing the domain from being
used by one of my affiliates as a white label site. I then persuaded
the owner to sell the domain to you.

Regarding the current incident, as you know I've asked the owner of
reestitmutton.com to stop redirecting the domain to his affiliate site,
mobdeal.com. He has not yet complied with our request and I am working
towards another solution. I admit that this has taken longer than I
would have liked. I expect to have the matter resolved within a few
    days.

I've not posted this message to start a debate. I just wanted to
clarify a point or two and leave it at that.
