Agreed - superb phone - I have used Sony Ericsson Phones for ever but got
tired of waiting for the P990i so went for a black N80 - glad I did!

What's the screen like compared to a 6680? How much bigger is it?

Never had a 6680 so no idea - The quoted size for a 6680 is TFT - 176x208
pixels
and for the N80 is Active matrix colour display 352x416 pixels - the N80
screen is the best I have seen on a phone - the physical size according to
my tape measure is 3.5cm wide x 4.5cm high (approx)

Guys, just out of interest, how are you finding battery life on this handset
so far?

Its actually easier than I thought it would be - also I have one of these
http://www.thinkoutside.com/products...t_product.html
for "serious" web sessions - works Ok with the N80 on board wireless
drivers.

Re: Nokia N80 - first impressions
Not able to comment so far, as i've not really used it yet. But fromt he
reviews i've read of the N80, battery life would appear to be it's one major
weakness.

Re: Nokia N80 - first impressions
Switch on the Bluetooth and that will really kill the battery in no time if
its anything like other Nokias I have tried.

That's the same for both BT phones that I've used (Sony) Ericsson.

WiFi is even worse for battery life.

No, nowhere near 'nuff said.
Does it connect if the SSID is hidden?
What speed does it connect at?
How is it with borderline signals or where there's conflicting channels?
How abysmal's the battery life with WiFi turned on?

<chortle>
My 9300i synchs FAR better with Outlook over BT than my SPV M2000/HTC
BlueAngel did.

hang on,
i was about to ask the same question. i need *really good* outlook
calendar synch and only windows mobile seems to do the job out of the
handsets i've used so far: series 60, SE P800 etc. my Orange SPV C500's
the only one that's totally usable (synchs notes in calendar items, full
text etc). it's the one thing that's really tying me to Windows Mobile
(apart from TomTom and that runs on Nokia).
can the OP comment on how good the synch is? do you get all details in
calendar, and does it autosynch up as nicely as with activesync?
cheers

Re: Nokia N80 - first impressions
Yes it connects with a hidden SSID, and can cope with WEP, not sure
about WPA offhand. It connects at up to 54mb (g), not too bad with
signal strength, goes about the same as my laptop, and yes it does have
negative impact on the battery but haven't worked out quite how bad it
is yet!
