I have just bought a used (2 months old) PAYG E720 which was originally on T
Mobile but has since been unlocked by the previous owner to operate on all
networks. My O2 sim works ok in it but the only irritating thing is that
the phone's software is still the T Mobile software (ie the menu screen
displays T Mobile and the menu icons are still T Mobile's). Is there a way
I can get O2's software onto this phone and if so how? Many thanks in
advance.

You could buy a cable for flashing it to the software you desire.
With sony ericsson this is easy in home, nokia not quite so easy; but in my
experience Samsungs are pretty hard to do, as a lto of the software is
subtitled in a foreign language, usually Korean.
I would sell it on ebay and get a better phone for the money you make. It's
unlucked as you say, so you may still get some money :-)

You would need more than just a cable.

Really? It's been a while since I owned a Samsung, but I did fiddle quite a
bit when I was bored with the P510, which was a real put-together shambles
by Samsung. The D500 I had no luck with mind you, I imagine the newer
generation of Samsungs have quite a lot of minor differences to prevent folk
tampering with them to some extent.
