Looking to port out 14 phones from Orange. T-Mobile's Business-1 looks a
nice fit for us but boss prefers Voda (probably only because he's heard
of them more than T-Mobile!) - anyone want to stick their neck out and
suggest who's better? Any decent Orange perks we are likely to miss?
One slight deciding factor will be that we have a few phone users in the
Cambridge (Soham) and Milton Keynes areas and the Orange signal there is
...well..crap..so can the others do any better?
Thanks

Re: Ready to jump the Orange ship - T-Mobile or Voda
Who's better depends what you want/need.
For instance, if you want Microsoft push email, don't go to T-Mobile
(yet).
If you value Orange Care (comes free with Orange Business tariffs), no
other network can match this.
Price wise, T-Mobile's Business-1 tariff is unbeatable (inclusive mins
also include calls to a lot of Europe and USA/Canada, if that's of any
use to you).
I'm currently putting a large amount of business T-Mobile's way
(personally I've just moved to T-Mobile after nearly 10 years with
Orange).
I'd be happy to advise further should you wish (my email is my full
name with no dot at my full business name dot com).
I am always happy to lend out a tester phone so clients can test out
network strength in various locations prior to making a final decision.

I am not abusiness user, but have just abandoned Orange. I looked at
T-Mobile and Voda, and came to the conclusion that Voda has much better
coverage overall.

Can't honestly speak about them from a Business point of view, but
I've just moved to Voda, and it's been a bit of a disaster. Fair
enough, mostly because of the shop I bought it in, but I've found
their Customer Services really poor - I got the impression they were
clicking through the same 'Help' program as is on their website when
I was having GPRS problems.
Anyway, here's the thread where I laid out all the various mistakes
they've managed:

And I'm not bitter. Really.

I switched to T-Mobile and have been really pleased with them. Helpful
(English) CS staff who know what they're doing, explain what they're
doing, and solve things quickly.
After the problems I had with Orange, T-Mobile are a breath of fresh air.

He's a wise man, Vodafone is the home for businessmen / serious users
T Mobile although improved is still 2nd rate, still not enough spent
on the network or addtional services.

I honestly don't think it makes a difference any longer. I think a
'serious' user should go for price...

So you don't want to make any calls?
e.g. T Mobile (and 3) are non existant at my house in Peacehaven (BN10)
Orange 1 bar
Voda 2 to 3 bars
O2 4bars+
and that's still fairly typical, T mobile and 3 just won't spend on network,
both would rather spend millions on patronising ads
Thankfully that's something O2 realised around 3 years ago and have much
improved since then.
e.g. 2 new main dualband BTS within 2 miles of here, Watford (WD25) in the
last 4 years.

Yeah, that's right Steve, I don't make any calls. Seriously, there's no
longer this magic difference. I've used the other providers all over the
country, and really don't see any differentiation in quality. That part
of the game is over.

And tomorrow I'll switch on my United Mobile SIM and not find any
network but T-Mobile.

The opposite was true for me. Our old office I got 1 bar for Orange,
nothing for Voda, 1 bar for O2 and 3 bars (full) for T-Mobile.
Similarly at home. Orange was okay - 1-2 bars depending on location.
Now I get 3 bars anywhere in the house.
Wife's parents (in Wales) is poor for Voda, T-Mobile and Orange though.

T-mobile (isn't that what they use?) works fine in my world.

Now I know you're joking, whenever i've been to Wales (or lot of the west
country)
T Mobile coverage has been lousy.
Easy to find out if Voda is suitable, PAYT Sims 2quid, with 3 quid of
credit.
