Yes I update my Jornada from Outlook, but you are correct I do not need
the full facilities while on holiday.
I need addresses, home and mobile phone numbers and email addresses for
friends, family and others and ability to add others while on holiday.
The Diary is for appointments made during or before the holiday.
I like to have a calculator handy. Something simpler may fit the bill.

I have been looking at Nokia N80 which others have suggested and this
does seem to meet my needs but is probably more complicated than
    necessary.

Nice to relax and listen to music or radio while sunbathing or just
relaxing. Probably storage for 3 or 4 CDs would be enough and listen
    through stereo headphones.

As others have said, mobile calls can be expensive. I had an accident
on my last holiday and had to call my Insurance company. The call
lasted 25 mins and cost over 25. A friend had a phone with wireless
connection to the Internet and could receive and send emails, at no
cost, from airports, hotel and other places where he could get a
    connection.

Yes thank you. I hope that I am doing that now.

Yes this is a good encyclopaedia thanks for the address.

Yes, very much, thank you Zoara and thanks also to everyone else who has
    given me suggestions and comments.

Sad but true. Use it as an opportunity to show how bad other are and get
    rid of them!

Already did that, with the result that I am now the only one that knows
how to do the job properly..! Getting my boss to hire someone else even
part time is proving an uphill struggle..!
