Dunno. I phoned it and asked me to text my name to a number. A Google
search shows it has something to do with T=Mobile, not sure what though.

This is the number that calls you if someone sends an SMS text from a
T-Mobile or Virgin mobile to a landline. Therefore it may not be a scam if
someone really has tried to text you.

I just bought a Nokia 6020 which was on O2 but I am using it on T-Mobile. I
keep getting 'message sent' receipts which read "The message has been
    delivered to 0207 744 0800. Sender:07953966066". I had about £2 credit on
the PAYG SIM and now it is all used up and I got a message saying something
like message cannot be sent due to insufficient funds ... so it seems like
the messages are using credit on my PAYG SIM ....

BTW, I called the 07963966066 number and it said I had 3 messages - I listed
to them and they didn't seem to make sense i.e. sounded like a buch of words
thrown together... I'm worried about topping up the mobile in case it uses
the credit up again ... Is it possible that the Nokia 6020 software has a
    problem/bug/virus or is it a T-Mobile problem ?

    Thanks

Just one more point ... I called the 07953966066 number from a landline (not
at home) and it said I had 3 messages ... how did it know the messages were
    for me ?

Because someone sent an SMS to your home phone.

T-mobile are a bunch of pricks; there's no reason why the BT/telewest/ntl
service would not be enough. No, instead - to make a quick buck as ****ing
usual - they try and cash in.

Just phone up and cancel the alerts.

Hmmm ... not sure I understand ... I received the message on my T-Mobile
phone ... I called the 0795366066 number from the office (not home phone) -
so how did the automated system know the messages were for me ? BTW the
caller id is scrambled when dialing out from the office phone so the person
you are calling does not know the exact number you are calling from ...

Also, do I call T-mobile to cancel the alerts ?

    Thanks

They wern't. The system uses the CLI from the number you are calling
*from* to see if the messages are for you so if you call from a fixed
phone you won't get the messages left for your mobile number.

I cannot understand though why the system has rung a mobile number, you
should have just got the text through as normal on your mobile.

Tel co's know the orignating CLI even if it is withheld.

    > Also, do I call T-mobile to cancel the alerts ?

No you need to ring the 07953 number from the phone you wish to cancel
the alerts on and follow the instrctions.

Re: Message from 07953966066 - is it a scam?

Hmmm... seems like i may have confused some people or maybe I am confused
myself ... let me try to explain again ...

I have a T-mobile SIM and am using an unlocked O2 handset (bought recently).
On Friday I checked my T-Mobile credit and it had £2 left. Over the weekend,
I kept receiving messages on the T-Mobile phone which read:

The message has been delivered to 0207 744 0800
    Sender: 07953966066

I didn't make any calls or send any text messages during the weekend (so I
should still have £2 credit left on my T-Mobile phone), but when I tried to
make a call on Sunday evening, I was told I had no credit on my mobile
phone. I had received about 10 messages all exactly the same as that
    detailed above.

I have NOT sent any messages to that landline number and not made any calls,
so I cannot understand where my £2 credit went or why I kept getting those
text messages - I assumed I was getting charged for the unwanted text
    messages.

Whilst at the office today, I called 07953966066 and it stated that there
were 3 messages for me. None of the messages were for me or even really
understandable - they just seemed like words thrown together (as in spam
    email message headers).

So, firstly I just want to find out what is eating my credit on my T-Mobile
phone even when I do not use it - I can contact T-Mobile about this.
Secondly, I want to find out why I am getting the above messages even though
I haven't sent any text messages.
Finally, I cannot understand how the 07953966066 service knew who I was
(maybe it didn't and it just recognised the number I happened to be calling
    from) ?

Thanks for all the suggestions ... I have't topped up my T-Mobile account as
I do not want to lose any more credit until I find out what is going on ...

Have you registered at <http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/>? If you have you
will be able to see details of the last 100 text messages and phone
    calls you've made.

You can get some more information about the number by visiting
<http://www.grumbletext.co.uk/> and entering it in the search box.

    And also here:
    =complaints++SMS+Spam+(General)+complaint&start=100>, which contains:

"07953966066 Text of (text):- "your text message has been delivered to
01*********" (home phone number). and message on the answer machine
states if we want to repeat the message to ring 07953 966066

This is a new one (i think) and delivers blank voice mails to our answer
machine, this not only "clogs up" the machine, BUT my wife`s mobile is
    charged for every one."
