My latest OVP Virgin bill which arrived today states that itemised billing
will be £1.50 from July - unless opted out by then.
Does this change apply to all OVP price-plans - even if the matching
tarriff gives free itemised billing? Or is it very poorly worded?

Does it also mean that if you opt out of itemised billed then you can still
view the bills in full (ie itemised) on line?

The wording on the bill explicitly states that full itemized bills will
continue to be available online.

Yes you can view it on line - or at least that's what it says on the
latest bill. Perhaps it's orange's attempt to use less paper and be
more eco friendly ~tntl~

How do you opt out?

Phone 150 or text "BILL" to an SMS number I don't have to hand (as the bill
is at home!). There appeared to be no way to do it (that I could see!) on their
website.
It all seems very badly thought out and I am not sure that they can change
the terms of contracts (particularly OVP ones which match competitors
features) at such short notice!

I am sure this will catch a lot of people out who have old OVP Virgin
SIMs sitting at the bottom of the drawer and will not be able to find
them in time!

From what I can gather, it is only legacy Orange Talkplans which are being
charged £1.50 for IB.
The following plans are exempt from the £1.50 charge.....
OVP Virgin
OVP T-Mobile - they are already charged £1 for IB
OVP Vodafone - they are already charged £1.76 for IB
OVP O2 - they are already charged 99p for IB
Everyday 50/Direct plans - they are already charged £1 for IB
Friends and Family, Liberate, Business Plus and Corporate tariffs.

Well ED50 wasn't until I upgraded my phone (and renewed for 12 months) a
month ago and then they started charging me.. without informing me! I've
cancelled it but now to find I will be charged it on Select 500 is very
cheeky. I do think this could be a contract breach which I will be
investigating and looking at, as long as I can find a better deal that is..
We should be offered a discount to cancel it, not a charge if we don't!

In that case the (pre-printed on the bill stationery) wording is APPALING!
It was present (without any ifs, buts or maybes!!!!) on my OVP Virgin bill.
Is there any definitive explanation anywhere on the Orange web-site?

But I can understand why they would want to charge OVP Virgin customers
for itemised billing. I haven't made any chargeable calls on my account
for months, maybe even years!

No mention on my four OVP-Virgin accounts - the bill just came, but ours is
a business a/c, dunno if that makes a difference?

No problems Bob.
Can I just state that I belive Orange are levying this charge as they wish
to reduce the amount of paper waste.
How many people read their bills from front to back? I don't, and mine is 39
pages long each month! (And although my IB option will remain free, I choose
to view
mine at work online)
All Orange are doing are trying to switch people to online itemisation,
which has a positive environmental impact. The only way to do this is levy a
charge, hopefully it will put people off paying for IB, rather than just
giving them an option.
"Do you want IB? Is it free? Yes! Well, if it's free......"
I think it's a good thing :-)
