SLVR L7 Queries

Just bought a Moto SLVR L7 and have two questions which I cannot resolve by
RTFM and Google etc etc!

Firstly, should it be shipped with a MiniSD card, or is this an "optional"
extra?

Secondly, the keypad backlight is only on when the phone starts up. It is
otherwise off whatever I try. Is there a menu option for this, or shall I
assume the phone is faulty? I have done a reset but it is new so should be
on default settings.

I think that this phone can detect the ambient lighting and only
illuminates the keypad when you're in the dark. Give it a try.

The MiniSD card is an "extra".

The backlight will only work when there is not enough ambient light.

Thanks! Saves me a 0870-complaint call on Monday, nothing anywhere about
either in the documentation :-s

Another Q - I had a Moto phone software CD with a V3 last year, but there
is nothing with this phone and nothing on the Moto website. Is this
application available for the L7?

Yes but they want you to pay for it.

Use the version that came with your V3, it will almost certainly be the
same program.

MPT will work with both phones Razr and Slvr. The software is the same.
Mini SD card is an extra if you buy phone from the provider. However if you go to a local retailer (not the cingular stores), they may carry the international unlocked version of the SLVR L7 phone. This package has everything, 128MB micro SD and the Software CD included, a international plug adapter.
I got mine with all that and more - car charger, leather case included for free.
