Hi, I probably make a fool of myself asking the following but I am
really interested. In the old times it was easy to spot the antenna on
a mobile (gsm) phone. I have now opened a Siemens C45 I no longer use
and have no idea what the internal antenna is. Also I cannot find on
the net diagrams of the circuitry where the antenna is shown.
Does anyone have a link to a photography or diagram in which the
location is clearly indicated? All help is appreciated.
Best regards, Durk

It is always at the top of the phone (to get clear of your hand) and
is usually a patch antenna - a metallised coating on a plastic
moulding or, less often, a PCB antenna. They don't look much like a
conventional antenna, for example look at

these are Nokia but the Siemens will probably be similar.

Hi Peter,
thanks very much for your answer. I looked at the top of the phone and
I saw two areas on the backt that might be it and one on the front. I
made some pictures and put them at
http://www.durkgardenier.nl/spec/gsmant/
Would it be possible that you take a look and identify the antenna? I
am a photographer and need a picture of one so your help is apreciated
very much.
Best regards,

The C45 is a dual band phone so it should be something more complex
than the simple patch shown on antenna.jpg. If you look at that
picture the pad on the left near the external antenna socket looks
like a contact pad - are there any faint contact marks on it?.
Antenna-3 is showing the earth plane and speaker contacts.
Look inside the rear case - is there a metal plate there which aligns
with either or both of the two pads in antenna.jpg? There is an
image of the S45 antenna at
http://www.huahongnet.com/siemens_antenna.htm# , I'd expect the C45
antenna to be similar.
