just found an old 7110e in the attic for the father in law.
trying to unlock it but to no avail.
tried ultimate calc by unique sw and crux unlocker
any ideas?

What codes did you enter from the Crux calculator..? I assume from your
mention of 7110e that it was originally on Orange, you need to use code 5
for Orange phones and you need to do it with no SIM in place.
I've unlocked plenty of phones of the same era (although not a 7110e) with
no problems.
