My daughter had her phone stolen at schhool and when the boy realised it
was hers he gave it bak but it now wont work with anysim - it just says
limited service. How do i go about gettin this unlocked quickly and
easily? it was a free phone on tmobile on payg but had an 02 contract
sim in and worked fine - can i unlock it myself, and could someone push
me in the right direction of where 2 get the software. Thanks in advance

Did you report it stolen? If so the phone is now blacklisted. SImply
    report it found again.

A free PAYG phone, I don't think so. You must be getting confused.

Your story does not make sense. If you've got the phone back there is no
reason that it will be in a different state to when it got stolen.

    Re: Unlockin Samsung D500

I'll explain in more detail - I purchased a contract phone from
dial-a-phone at christmas which came with a FREE Samsung D500 on PAYG,
they still do deals like this now,its no different than getting a free
xbox or psp with a new contract phone.

My daughter had an O2 sim card in an older phone so she put that into
the new phone when it arrived so it was never activated on T-Mobile and
worked fine, the phone was stolen from her bag at school the day before
half-term week, so we rang O2 straight away and they locked the sim and
the phone. after the half-term holiday was over and my daughter went
back to school the person who had taken it then realised that it was my
daughters phone and came up to her and told her that he would get it
back for her and that he was sorry and would never have taken it if he
had realised it was hers in the first place - he had given it to someone
he owed money to during the half-term week and they obviously tried
different sim cards from different companies and also did not no the
pins for the phone so when we got it back without the original sim card
as this had been disposed off as soon as it was stolen, the boy says
that the boy he gave it to tried loads of different ways to try to
unlock it and also tried different pin numbers which would have locked
the phone further, so we contacted O2 to get the phone unlocked and they
then said that because it wasn't supplied by them they could not unlock
it - thats where its a bit weird as they where happy to lock it when it
was reported stolen but they won't unlock it. so we have a phone which
we cant get to work on any network - it takes a t-mobile sim but it says
limited service and you can't make any calls except 999, and if we try
the same sim in another phone it works fine so obviously its locked in
some way - T-mobile say they can't do anything about it as it wasn't
from them either and dial-a-phone are no help what so ever - I have the
necessary numbers (PUK/IMEI etc) but just need the software to unlock it
or maybe reload the software somehow, we have a cable to connect to a pc

Don't ask them to unlock it. Ask them to unbar it. Tell them you reported it stolen and it has now been found. This is the only way you will you get it to work.

The phone was already unlocked - you said so in your opening paragraph.

    > and they

Locked? I think you mean "blacklisted" - this is not the same as
    locked/unlocked.

    > but they won't unlock it. so we have a phone which
    > we cant get to work on any network

Inform O2 that you have found the phone, ask for it to be un-
    blacklisted.
