    Congratulations, everybody!

In the space of ten short years, you've villified and outmoded a fine
landline system which served this country well for many years. You've
made it so that most rooms you move into don't have landline access,
but need them put in separately.

You've called microwave pollution, which destroys memory and creates
mental imbalance, and many forms of sickness, obligatory. You've made
it so that microwave pollution is EVERYWHERE, and nobody has the least
choice to avoid it. You call it a "good reception". You have
conversations about it in terms of how necessary it is. You've made it
so that people who want to avoid mobile masts are sneered at, and are
not allowed to do so. There's talk about rejecting these masts on
health grounds being not allowed. For all people's impotent,
meaningless protests, there are 6466 mobile masts in Greater London
ALONE!People everywhere are sick, especially the old, but they "go
along" with it in order to protect this malodorous technology. I could
go on, but what's the point? You don't have the brains to listen! Just
try and read a difficult book in your microwave-filled front room.
Listen through radio-recieving equipment, a walkman or something, if
you still want to pretend it's not there. Old people with pale faces go
stumbling around like they never did before, everybody is more
miserable, and you're all it a state of permanent denial.

Go on, laugh! It wasn't like this ten years ago. Stupidity can only
laugh at itself. Thanks a bunch!!! And no, I don't own a frigging
    mobile. Never have.

    Paul

I hope you feel better for getting that off your chest. That said
Mobiles have improved the lives of around 50 million uk users, I think
you are in a minority. Good luck with the cuase though.

Perhaps YOU are the evidence that mobile phone detractors have been looking
for for so long - some poor brain damaged soul, where it has been caused by
microwaves. OTOH you will have needed to keep out of the sun during the
whole of your life, otherwise the orders of magnitude higher radiation
emitted by this will have swamped any effect from masts etc.

well given the OP only ever lives in 'rooms' rather than houses or
flats I guess it's fair to hazard a guess at what sort of institution
    he is domiciled in

Hmmm. I would think that pale faced old people go stumbling around
    because they are, er old.

The population, generally, is living longer, thanks to medical
breakthroughs, improved diet, the welfare state.

Well, damn those advancements! Let's go back to 1876 (arbitrary date)
when there was NO electricity, NO central heating, NO tap water, NO
nightly baths/showers, NO welfare state, NO NHS, NO sick pay, NO
    holidays...

There will be no pale faced old people to stumble around our streets.
    They will all be dead.

But there will be plenty of Luddites, not unlike yourself.

What do you call evidence? Proof that what you believe is right. Facts
aside. Nobody asked me if I wanted to spend the last ten years
hip-hopping around accommodation, trying to avoid mobile masts and
phone users, without success. There is literally nowhere in this
country that is free of them. You can have them with an opinion, but
    you can't not have them.

In our modern society, we are not allowed to escape from a 24-hour
pulsing, all-pervading dangerous, disruptive radiation. This is
considered progress. The media has cleverly sidelined those with a
divergent opinion, but what comes on the big box must be everyone's
friend, because they let it into their homes the other night. It was
there when they had their tea. Clever social proof. Genius. What comes
next? Have we been let down yet, or are we still waiting to be let
down? Even those who have had cancer still can't say "no" to mobile
telecommunications. They can only ambiguously say they wish people
would be "careful" and "sensitive" with it. How can people be careful
and sensitive with what relies on dangerous microwaves for its
    existence?

Nobody asked me if I wanted to have to scratch my head to get it going
in the morning, to drink cups of strong coffee and engage in antics to
avoid cumulative brain damage. You've taken the war to me by
continually polluting my living space with microwaves. Why is a
gimmick, a novelty, considered more important than stability, peace of
    mind, and quality of life?

Am I in a minority? Indeed, yes. I *have a brain*

It's good to talk - not.

Microwaves cook food. Microwaves carry speech signals. Is there
    anything in between?

Rubbish. Landlines are still here, are much better value than 10 years ago, and are
the preferred manner of communication when easily accessible to most people with any
common sense. Fixed lines/cables are also still needed for broadband until you can
get 8 meg on a mobile constantly online for less than £1 a day.

I've got a total of 5 extensions on my landline. More than most people had before
mobiles became widespread. Anyway haven't you heard of DECT phones, or are you scared
    of them too?

Compared to people who use mobiles frequently, someone who never uses a mobile will
get an insignificant amount of radiation from them or their masts. If there are
health problems we'll see them amoung heavy users first, and there is a massive
worldwide experiment going on right now...

Barbeques cook food - try sticking your head in that. OTOH an open fire
will keep you warm - if you don't get too close.

The sun will give you burns in under an hour.

Now that the argument about passive smoking is won (at least according
to those that make the argument) we can move on to passive brain damage.

All those fat mothers protesting about mobile phone masts affecting
their snotty nosed kids have probably got mobiles themsleves and no
doubt their ASBO kids have one as well. Also they don't object to
satellite and terrestial tv signals pumping out all over the place.

Has the OP ever looked about and seen microwave telecommunication
towers that have been around for 30 years plus. Our landlines don't
only squirt down copper cable. Oh yes and for good measure, what do you
think powers the landlines, electricity. Does he also object to the
electromagnetic radiation given off from not only the high tension grid
    but also domestic cabling.

I live about a kilometre away from a 100kW TV mast and a 25kW Radio mast.

Also, about 200 metres away, there is a 20W Orange phone mast.

Hmmm....... What's more dangerous? Well, the TV mast has been around here
since the late 60's and has not caused any issues...

Tell you what, if you like, lets rip down all the TV and Radio masts, the
microwave links that provide the backbone to your landline (and therefore -
internet), and the TETRA masts that everyone says cause cancer, but at
450MHz are only just lower down in frequency than TV signals (and were once
used by the Dolphin mobile network). Then, you won't have any access to TV,
Radio, and you won't be able to call the police if you get mugged as there
would be a really piss poor phone system, and even if you did get through,
they'd probably not be able to contact a local bobby as there would be no
    police radio.

If you wanna live like a hermit, then so be it - but do us one favour before
    you go -

SHUT THE **** UP, YOU UNEDUCATED TWAT

The only reason you don't own a "friggin" mobile is that you are probably
too "friggin" stupid to work one :-)

One of your references is to the New Shopper. That is one of my many
local papers. Not what I would call a font of knowledge or reason. The
journos on it are currently up in arms about how mothers who park
ILLEGALLY when dropping off their kids are being find by parking
    wardens...

But that's beside the point. Paul, every mask that is erected requires
planning permission. You have a right to object to the granting of
permission. Could you tell this group just how many letters of
    objection you have written.

I'm guessing it will be very few.

I never asked for my lungs to be polluted by the emissions from exhaust
fumes. I can't object to Esso selling petrol...
