I put another sim in my phone today, and it switched on ok, and didn't
    give me any warnings

Does that mean the phone is unlocked, or could other locks still be on
    the phone?

I haven't tested it by making a call because I have no reception at
    home on that network.

Sorry the Sim was an o2(Tescos), and I put it in a brand new vodafone
    PAYT Motorola L6,

The display appeared with Tesco in the display, as I expected. If was
Splocked would I see any other error messages?
