Hi,
As per the subject line, I have a Vodafone 7100v, originally bought and
used by me from new on the Vodafone network. After the contract ended,
I unlocked it and switched to easyMobile until I decided where to go
next. As the phone is quad-band, it's perfect for me to use on my
visits to Canada, but whilst in the UK I need GPRS / WAP access so I
can access such things as train times on the move. However, since I
moved from Vodafone, the browser has dis-appeared from the device, and
when I try to access it via the 'convenience' key, it tells me "Your
device does not currently have any Browser Configuration Service Book
Entries. Please contact your service provider to enable the Browser on
your device.". Now, easyMobile certainly can't help me, but I have a
few questions:
1) If I took the phone back to a Vodafone store, would they be able to
add the service book back onto the device, for a fee of course?
2) Are there any external programs I could use to gain access to WAP?
3) If I did a restore from the desktop software, from the time BEFORE I
unlocked the phone, would that restore the service book to the device?
Alternatively, if I purchased a Rogers PAYG SIM for use whilst I am in
Canada, would this allow me to get an updated service book when I place
it in, or OTA through a call to Rogers perhaps? Finally, if I
downloaded the lartest copy of the desktop software, and the latest
BlackBerry software (for Rogers), can I then reload my device and get
it to work that way?
If anyone can help I'd be grateful as this phone otherwise meets my
needs for all I require it to do (a phone I can use anywhere, with a
bluetooth headset and basic calling functionality). Thanks for taking
the time to read this.

Hi,
I'd imagine it would be possible to get any service book updates from
www.blackberry.com
If you were previously using a Vodafone SIM card this may have been
provisioned for Vodafone's 'Blackberry Internet Solution'.
This is an add-on to a price plan and costs between £12.00 - £16.00 a
month (dependant on price plan). It allows you to have constant
connectivity to the internet for sending and receiving email and
browser access.
When you ended your contract this service would have cancelled and
disabled from the Blackberry. Without 'Blackberry Internet Solution' in
place the handset would act as a normal mobile telephone when another
(non-provisioned) SIM was entered.
I don't know if EasyMobile offer such a service, however more
information on the Vodafone service is included below:
http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatc...tent_Id=AZ_055
Hope this will help you out.
