Hi
According to the PAYT T&Cs, browsing Vodafone Live is free unless you
download ringtones pictures or request SMS/alerts. I often check the
train timetables under VL Travel - Transport for London at no charge
but on a couple of occassions I was charged about a pound. In fact I
first noticed yesterday when I had 89p left to qualify for free
weekend calls and I got the confirmation text whilst browsing.
Is Travel a chargeable service that I have got for free or are the
charges a mistake?
Help and comments appreciated.

I was charged for using the supposedly free national rail service. An
email to Vodafone regarding this has gone unanswered. I now no longer
use Vodafone Live! but I did find that my settings no longer matched
those that they are/were advising to use. As I hadn't changed any of
those settings I can assume that they have made changes that *do*
affect users that may have set up their phones some time ago with
older settings.

Hi,
I work for Vodafone and VF Live! is a free to browse portal in the UK
(you will be charged for GPRS in accordance to your price plan if
browsing overseas).
If you enter a chargeable area while viewing in the UK then you will be
prompted with a '£' sign before you can go on. Certain areas of
Vodafone Live!, such as Find & Seek, Express News, ITN News, AA Road
Watch, OK Magazine etc are chargeable or contain subscription services.
Again, these sections of Live! will prompt you of any charges before
entering them.
If you're on Pay as you Talk then there was an issue here a month back
whereby some PAYT customers were charged in error for browsing Vodafone
Live!. If you feel this is the case it might be worth getting Vodafone
to investigate further. You could do this by going to
www.vodafone.co.uk, selecting 'contact us' then email.
Sorry to hear that Paul never got a reply to his email, Vodafone do
have a dedicated department set up who are responsible for handling all
email queries. If you wish to send another email, you could type the
code FIT135 as part of the text-body, and then this will make sure it
gets through to somebody who will respond in full.
The code FIT135 can be used for both Paul White and Brains_t to help
them
Hopefully this will help you get it resolved.
If you have any other questions please let me know.

That's what *I* did last time!

I've now dumped Virgin in favour of Orange and use a 6230 which is
working well for me. Your Live! pages don't display properly with my
6310i since you redesigned them a few months ago, a factor I
considered as I check rail times regularly and it should be free to do
so. I guess I'll have to buy a new phone when I next consider
switching to Vodafone.
I guess you lost out this time around. )

Thanks for your time Kev. My phone was not set up correctly. Vodafone
CS (via my corporate account) uploaded the correct seeting and
refunded the charges.
However, I was so unimpressed when I initially contacted CS via my
PAYT account, the guy who answered had a "so what" attitude. The fact
that I had already spent the fiver that entitled me to free weekend
calls was the only thing that stopped me using all my credit and
binning the sim.

Desmond
