    Yes it is.

Call OCS and have them remove the "No auto-divert to answerphone"
product from your account. You can then set/remove the answerphone at
will using the divert menu's on your handset.

Surely that would be *add* the "no auto-divert to answerphone" - what
confuses people is adding something to remove it.

There was definitely something wrong with what I typed there! ;-)

I can't remember which way around it is now.. they either ADD "no
auto-divert", or REMOVE "auto-divert".. The jist of my post though was
    that it is possible!

Caveat - the above only works for contracts, *not* for pay as you go. If
you want to turn off answerphone on PAYG, you have to ring OCS and get
them to totally disable it. You will have to repeat the process if you
ever want it enabled again, but you will lose *all* your settings such as
    outgoing message, PIN etc.

It's remove auto-divert. And it only works for contract, not PAYG (see my
    other post)

I think you mean "add" not "remove"!

That's confusing..! How can you add something you're effectively taking
    away..?!

But yes, you're right, I remember asking for that now.

Customer services will disable the answerphone on PAYG but the OP did not
    specify if contract or PAYG.

I know, but the option to control divert from the handset only exists on
contract. On PAYG once it's gone, it's gone.

Then you have to ring them again to get it switched back on again, and
meanwhile you've lost all the settings like outgoing message, PIN etc.
