Some time ago I posted here about how to get my WinXP home laptop
to access the internet via Infra-red to my Nokia 8310 phone on the
Orange PAYG network. Not having used it for some time, I recently
tried it and it seems to have stopped working.
I turn the Infra-red on at the phone end, and then use dial-up
networking on the PC to dial *99# with the username and password
blank, and it fails with an "Error 720: A connection to the remote
computer could not be established. You might need to change the
network settings for this connection..." The "More Info" button
then says "A connection could not be established because the Point
to Point Protocol (PPP) settings on your computer and on the
remote computer do not match..."
I went back via Google to the thread I asked about this in before,
and as far as I can see I have got everything set up as described.
Can anyone suggest anything? Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Make sure you have the APN payginternet stored in settings > GPRS modem
settings > access point 1. You also need at least 66p of credit.

That all looks set correctly to me. Thanks anyway though.
