with a video recording facility on it with a good length of time for
recording.Any ideas/ , your opinion on this would be appreciated if you know

Nokia N93 probably with Carl-Zeiss optics, optical zoom, electronic
stabilizer (i think) and video recording at VGA resolution and 30f/s.
Official sample footage that can be found on the web look almost DVD
quality. Real footage made by real people look a lot less impressive but
still far better than any video i've seen made by any other phone. You
shouldn't have any trouble finding sample videos on the web.

It has to be the N93, it really it quite amazing . . . I just finished
editing my first home movie filmed entirely on the N93. It's only
slight inferior to my old Canon DV camcorder.

Nokia N93 for certain as averred by other posters. It's not exactly a
'compact' phone, but knocks spots of the competition when it comes to
video recording. It's also very good at playing video clips. I use a
program called Xilisoft DVD to 3GP converter (strangely similar to
another app called 'Imtoo').

You just pop a DVD into your drive and Xilisoft converts it to a
format for the N93 (or any other video capable phone like the SE K800i
etc.). Great for watching TV shows on the way to work. Best codec I've
found is 3GP at 256kbps and a screen res of 320 x 240. I am very
impressed with the quality. A 30 minute show at this setting comes in
around 100-120Mb. So your 2Gb miniSD card can hold lots of different
stuff. There is also the advantage of recording each chapter of a
title.
