I went through this with Orange and their Novatel Merlin cards last year.
Firstly, the card may be unlocked already - have you actually tried another
USIM (*not* a normal SIM) ?

If not, then I think only Voda can unlock it for you. Orange charged £20 per
card to do ours, which is really quite reasonable.

    Benedict.

Vodafone use SIMs not USIMs for 3G!

    Hi,

I work for Vodafone and have been in touch with our unlocking
    department this afternoon about this.

I'm informed that Vodafone UK can only unlock Huawei data-cards and
it's not possible for us to provide an unlocking code for the
    Globetrotter make.

    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

When you say "it's not possible" do you really mean it not possible,
or just that they are not willing to?

I'd be interested to know how they get locked in the first place then.

Usually with datacards it's a case of hyperterminal and some AT
    commands.
