I have a K750i, which (for what I'm about to suggest) amounts to the
same thing. I too couldn't be doing with a hard case or the lumpy,
leathery plastic things. I bought a small, fabric pouch made by
Berghaus. It cost 8 I think, certainly less than 10. This came with a
belt clip, which I removed. The phone pops in and you then zip it up.
The benefits to me are that I can drop it and no damage will be done and
it's kept clean - so wherever I put it, no dust gets into the joystick
to bu**er it up.
The down side is that it takes a couple of rings (at least) to get it
out and the volume of the ring (& message) tone is reduced. If I used my
phone more, this would hack me off and it may be a very good reason why
this suggestion is no use for you. But it does fine for me.
