    Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a Sony Ericsson M600i that /isn't/ on
Vodafone? I can't find one anywhere.

I really hate the way Vodafone change the phone's graphics - they make a
    really ugly job of it.

    Cheers,

    Thom

If you don't want any operator crap on your phone, you can buy it SIM-free
    from expansys: <http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=130380>

Thanks, I was hoping to be able to spread the cost of the phone with a
pay-monthly contract somewhere. That said, I hardly use my phone, so it
might be worth me checking what I'd save (over a year) by just buying
handset, and staying with Virgin pay-as-you-talk.

Cheers for the link, so Expansys have a good reputation?

Expansys have an excellent reputation. In fact, it's the reference online
shop if you want to buy SIM-free handsets. I've bought a phone and several
accessories from them and never had a single problem.

One of the accessories i bought from them was an external keyboard for my
Sendo X. The space key was faulty though so i returned it to the return
address specified on their web site using Royal Mail Special Delivery
service. 3 days later, i had a brand new keyboard waiting for me in my mail
box and saw that they had refunded the cost of the return shipping on the
credit card i used to buy it even though i hadn't even asked for it.

Was in Phone4U at the weekend and the guy offered me the SE M600i on
Vodafone or O2, but when I looked on their website its just for vodafone.

It was the white M600i which came with the films Snatch and Layer Cake on
    the 512MB Memory card.

With one proviso. New stuff that has an estimated delivery date is
sometimes vapourware. Their estimates can be very optimistic.

Yes i've experienced that as well. Said available in 7 days, then 6 days
later it was down to 1 day and suddently reseted to 7 days. But i received
the phone 3 days later. Go figure. Apparently, this is because of their
backorder system. You can order a phone even when it's not yet on stock.
When new stock arrives, all the backorders are processed in priority and if
they received less phones than the number of backorders, the counter resets
to wait until the next time they get new stock. Their system could
    definitely be improved.

In my experience though, when they say that it's in stock, it really is.
Another thing to note though is that, unlike other shops, they only debit
your payment card when they ship the product so if it's really too late,
you can just cancel your order without having to go through a dodgy refund
    process.

I have used Expansys many times. Always received my goods next day (when
    they were in stock). Excellent!

And despite the promise on their website of being able to arrange a
delivery address different to the billing address, this not actually
    being the case.
