Yup.
From the Nokia firmware updater on the internet... just got v4! No word
of a lie! It's a bit time consuming, but it's given me a few other apps,
but nothing like any N80i apps with better SIP support or what not.

You'll have to give me a while to have a look through. Doesn't look
wildly different tell you the truth. There's a Search icon, and I now
seem to have Acrobat PDF reader and QuickOffice where once I had none.
That could be a figment of my imagination. There seems to be nothing
bringing it close to the fabled N80i, ie, no Flickr, no Voip...
There's also an extra stage for power saving. Before... Light goes off >
time & date screen saver comes on > display goes off and blue flashy
light starts.
Now there's a stage before that, where the screen goes dim after ten
seconds.
Seems like "Well, we're not shipping a new battery that'll work... can't
be bothered actually saving power, lets just do something with the screen"
If you need more detail, I'll have to look through unfortunately.

Yep, just done mine too. It's a 73MB download though, so make sure you have
a decent internet connection!
Cheers for the info.

Some of that will be the device drivers though... I think it installs
"new hardware" BB5 ADL or something IIRC!
I'll try out my two simultaneous Bluetooth connections tomorrow and get
back to you on stability.

Re: Orange N80: Just got v4 Firmware
Anyone got any idea how long this *should* take? Mine downloaded the
73mb very quickly and has sat there for the past hour 'updating
software, please wait'....the progress bar is still moving...any
suggestions?

Re: Orange N80: Just got v4 Firmware
So on further investigation it appears my handset had reset and was
waiting for my sim pin no. to be entered (not that the updater software
told me that!)
The update now appears to be complete - I can use the phone and the
firmware is showing as updated etc. but the updater software is still
stuck in this state...possibly because I left it connected for ages
while it was waiting for the sim?
Hmm....not sure whether to just pull the plug and hope for the best or
leave it for a while...

It's a slow piece of software, I grant you that.
But at this stage...
Mine, shut off the phone. I was freaked. i was concerned in case the
battery went. But sure enough, it carried on updating the phone.
Eventually it restarted, the display came back, and the updater told me
it had finished.
If the phone has indeed restarted, I would be tempted to say all is
well, but, I wouldn't like to guarantee it. I think though if you can
type in *#0000# and it comes back v4, then I think you're OK.
