I'm getting daft texts from someone who says they know me but won't pick up
the phone when I ring and won't reply to my SMS. Is there anyway I can find
who it is by other means - it's from an Orange number?

    Cheers for the reply.
I don't want to get the Police involved if it's a friend by stupid. Is there
not an Orange department that deals with this? I reckon it's a mate of a
    mate who's messing about.

I'm guessing you know it's Orange by the fact that you're getting an Orange
voicemail message when they're not answering the phone...and not by the
fact it begins with 07973 or whatever, because it could be a ported number!

Yep - the plonker won't pick up the phone - goes through to the answer
phone. It wouldn't be an Orange employee messing about would it?

Call from a different number, possibly witholding it ?

What you are looking for is the reverse directory. Unfortunately, its
not available to the general public and even the authorities need a warrant.

What you are getting is not funny, its a nuisance call. If whoever it is
keeps it up, you should report it. It would serve the prat right.

Cheers. I'll look into it. I've sent an SMS back telling them to say who
they are and if they don't it'll be reported.

Report them to the police, they will be prosecuted under various
telecommunications and harassment acts. That will give them a shock and
    stop them.
Also report it to the mobile company as they CAN block numbers when they
want to or feel like it, including reverse charge scam texts they get a cut
    from.

    OK..I gotta ask..why "dibbles"??

The only dibble I've ever heard of is from Trumpton (or was it Camberwick
Green?) where the firemen were called Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert,
    Dibble and Grub.

Dibble was the police chap in Top Cat.

Why not try calling by witholding your number and calling when they don't
expect it - ie. not after a text but when they don't really expect it might
    be you?
