What type of files are you trying to transfer?

    I'll then try to replicate

Well, I seem to be able to copy music files and jpg from the phone to the
    pc fine.

Have you installed all of the updates for the Samsung PC studio app?

If that doesn't work, try downloading the full app from the samsungmobile
website, un-install your old version and re-install the new one.

    Alternatively, try restarting the app.

According to a google search you are not alone, could it be a firmware
    issue ?

I get the same error for some of my files. For example, I videotape a
movie on my D900 for a very long time. The size goes to be about 30mb,
and if I try to transfer that over to my PC I get the
CM_ERROR_READFILE. However, this also happened one time with a picture
that I took, and for some reason I couldn't transfer that over to my
PC. It was like some sort of memory problem. I tried solving the
problem by moving the file to another folder (like the Favourites) or
refreshing the phone (disconnecting the USB, reconnecting), nothing
would solve the CM_ERROR_READFILE. So far there seems to be no solution
    to this problem.

I am using the full version of Samsung PC Studio from the site and I
just bought my phone a month ago. I have not contacted Samsung about
    this.

    Re: D900

    Hi Hopey and all

I am so glad (not much help to you) but I am having the same problem
and tried a google search to find an answer. Well I stumbled across
this site. So we now have proof that it is not an isolated incident
and it is widespread. Below is a copy of what I sent to samsung. I am
sure it covers most things but your comments will be appreciated (I am
not trying to hijack your thread Hopey but just trying to get you and
me an answer) I have registered on this site only because of this
thread. I will post the reply from samsung on this thread if that is
ok. well here is that email it is fairly long but think it covers
    everything.

    Dear Sir/madam
I still have my problems as stated in my last emails but to clarify I
will explain FULLY the events that have unfolded. It is fairly long but
hopeful will cover all aspects and answer you questions regarding of the
    problem.

I have had my new Samsung D900 (I actually have 2 phones with me,1 for
my partner) for around 10 days now. I inserted my PC studio disc (Ver:
3.0.1 FFA)to use with my USB connecter.

    Now for the problems
The software installs ok it recognizes my phone ok it copies my phone
book and SMS messages to PC. It even shows my icons for my jpeg
pictures and MP4 video that I have on my phone (so far so good) no
    connection problems.

If I try and copy pics (and vids) to my pc. If it is below 50KB (not
large I am sure you will agree) there is no problem.
Problem 1: Any file larger than 50KB and There will be 1 of a few
problems that occur, a pop up will displaying 'CM_ERROR_READFILE' after
transfering say around 20% of file then stopping or 'Unknown Error' or
    software will just freeze.

Problem 2: I can't send a SMS via my PC because the last few letters I
input are ommitted when the message is sent.

Problem 3: If I try and transfer a jpeg image from my PC to my Photos
folder on my phone then I will get 'operation not possible or not
compatable with the destination'. I am aware that the resolution has to
be a certain size and that is not the problem.

I have emailed before regarding problems 1 and 2 here is the reply I
    received:
'In response to your query, I am sorry to hear of the trouble you have
had in using PC Studiowith your phone. The first problem you mention
is something I have not yet come across - if you have already tried
    reinstalling the softwarefrom 'Samsung Mobile'
    (http://www.samsungmobile.co.uk), I would
recommend attempting to install the software on another machine to
    rule
out any issues with your PC. The second problem is something I have
heard of before - it may turn outthat this is not resolvable, but I
will investigate this for you. Could you let us know which version of
PC Studio you are using (ie PC Studio 3.1.1FKB) and if possible try
running PC Studio on another PC? Thiswill at least rule out a problem
    with your own PC.'

To rule out problems at my end and in response to the email all my
    problems have Happened even though
I have tried both Discs, both usb connectors, both phones and 2
    different PCs.
These have also happened before and after I had installed updates.

The same as happened when I downloaded the latest version from the
    Samsung website (Ver: 312 GEA)
Each time I have done a fresh install I have uninstalled the previous
    software and restarted my pc.

My main complaint is regarding problem 1
I have phoned twice the first time was not satisfactory but at least
the lady at customer services tried but the final reply was try this
and that and if that doesn't work I don't know but will email
colleagues to find an answer. Polite but not very proffesional and no
    reply.

The 2nd time I phoned on Wednesday 20th June evening. I was told to
uninstall my firewall and ANTIVIRUS yes ANTIVIRUS before I try and
install software. luckily I was a bit clued up on internet security not
to uninstall my ANTIVIRUS. The lady then advised that she would phone me
after middday the next day (Thursday 21st June. It is now late on Friday
afternoon and I am still waiting.

Also regarding the email response of not hearing of problem 1 before if
you read some messages in the following links to these forums.

'Samsung SGH-D900 - Support Forum - eXpansys UK'

'Support & Discussion Forums - eXpansys UK'

you will find problems with the software is rife and people are not
bringing it to Samsung's attention maybe because after visiting forums
they start using a micro SD card or Bluetooth instead of the USB cable
which seems to be the cause of the problem highlighted. But this
problem should be rectified and not brushed under the carpet. If there
is a problem with the USB cable then perhaps one should not be supplied
with the software and instead supply a micro SD card or bluetooth
adaptor OR RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. If the problem is with the software
then perhaps the software should not be issued with the phone OR
    RECTIFY THE PROBLEM.

    Summary:
I got this phone because it has a good quality camera and I can
transfer photos to my PC via a usb cable so won't have to purchase any
additional products(wrong) to print my pics.

I also got this phone because of Samsung's increasing popular reviews.

regarding the phone itself I am so far very happy with it and would
reccomend it. As for the PC software I am very dissapointed, in this
day and age it is an important factor when buying phones. 'Please do
not brush this under the carpet'. Depending on the response I get will
help me dicide whether or not I take my phones back to the shop and
whether or not I will purchase Samsung phones in the future. A few of
my friends and family are looking for new phones and at present will
discourage them from this if they want to use it with their PC. I look
    forward to a positive response.

    Kind regards
that would be my real name which I shouldn't publish here mind just
read that Henry has gone to Barcelona that is big news. (not an Arsenal
    fan..or spurs)
