640K actually, which is still a technical limitation, although nowadays
easily circumvented.

64K....IBM PC came with 64K, all you'll ever need. I think DOS (oh, oh,
we're not supposed to call WinXP DOS any more) still runs in 64K pages....
I paid big money for a 256K expansion card for my Compaq XT luggable that
looked like a sewing machine. I found a receipt from "Crazy Bob's Computer
Warehouse" in Atlanta for a 33MB (not GB, MB) Tulin, full height hard
drive, the biggest one available at that date. I paid $1995.00 plus
shipping!
Memory and storage have gotten lots cheaper since the "good ol' days" of
computing.....(c;
64K was a great step up from my 4K S-100 bus machine, however....BASIC ate
most of it, though.
